Brit readers will be familiar with the Kick Off franchise, which originally released on the Amiga almost 30 years ago. The series was subsequently ported to practically every platform on the planet, but after a decade on the side-lines, it's now set to make a comeback exclusively on the PlayStation 4. Writing on the PlayStation Blog, legendary programmer Dino Dini has announced that Kick Off Revival will launch on 17th June – both on the PlayStation Store and at retail. A Vita version will follow later in the year.
That date's obviously been selected with Euro 2016 in mind, as the tournament will be in full swing by then. We actually had a chance to go hands-on with this one recently, and while it's obviously not going to satisfy FIFA fans, it definitely recaptures the old school spirit of the original releases. It's fast, frantic, and quite chaotic, which should make for fun little party sessions. We're not entirely convinced that it's going to have very long legs, though!

Aah Kick Off. I remember playing this at school at a mate's house. We'd have tournaments at the weekend. It's still the only footy game I've ever liked. Kick Off was way more popular than FIFA at the time as well.

Loved this and sensible soccer back in the day. You could score some crazy goals with the wind setting turned right up!
Wow! This game had been lost in the recess of my mind.Now this takes me back, we all loved this game and I actually thought it was very realistic. Imagine that.
I remember Sensible Soccer played that a lot but do not remember this game. It was a sad day when the Sensible Soccer reboot was pulled. It was a terrible new name though.
I still have kick off on my atari st I haven't played a footie game in years but this I could get into.

@dryrain the sensible soccer reboot (sociable soccer) is still going to be released after Xmas. Check out the Facebook page, it's only at 50% but looking really good already

I do vaguely remember Kick off, what I didn't know was the huge rivalry between it and Sensible Soccer. The things I've read recently seem to suggest that it was a little bit personal too. Not that has any bearing on this game though.

@get2sammyb It wasn't so much the gamers but the actual creators themselves, from what I read it's implied that Dino Dini reckoned Sensible Soccer stole the idea off Kick Off.
Anyway that rivalry passed me by, it was the Fifa's and ISS games in the late 90's that got me started.
Used to skip school to play this and Sensible Soccer on the Amiga lol.
Is this the one I played as a kid where the screen was laid out flat like a Foosball table?
