Activision's starting to turn the screws ahead of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare's announcement next week. It's uploaded the embedded video teaser to its YouTube channel, which shows an angry looking man spouting nonsense about how he's going to "rip you from the history books". Nice try, mate – but this author doesn't even have a Wikipedia page yet. Oh, the injustice of it all!
We've got to admit, if this clip is designed to get us hyped for Tuesday's rumoured reveal, it's not quite done the job yet – but it's so short and so garbled that it's not really the end of the world. With the sequel rumoured to be going full-on sci-fi, we're sure that the complete announcement next week will give us much more to talk about. Until then...

Black Ops III really let me down, but as a longtime fan of the franchise, I'm keeping a close eye on this one. Going to watch the upcoming reveal trailer and eventual E3 demo with great interest. It'd be really nice to see Infinity Ward redeem itself after Ghosts.
The MW Remaster is a no-brainer though. That's a day one purchase for me.
Nobody is afraid of baldy kooks on youtube.
That was rather cliche.
Needs more chocobos.
No wait, I'm just going through FFXV hype withdrawal.
If DC Legends kills off Rip Hunter and replaces him with this bald videogame guy for next season I'm OK with that.
I don't know. This game can turn out to be the worst CoD ever made but it's going to sell really good due to the MW Remaster bundled with it and I am thinking that's what Infinity Ward is betting on.
Me if this game ends up as CoD: Halo edition I will pass. If the games get more SciFi then Black Ops 3 then to me that just isn't what CoD is about and if I want that I will go play Halo or Destiny or Titanfall 2.
@Tasuki
So Modern Warfare isn't being sold separately? That's a big bummer. Dunno about this trailer, it seems very cliche.
I also agree that if they go even more SciFi, it's a turn off, if anything, it's about time we go back to WW2.
@sub12 I am afraid not. If you look at the advertisement that was leaked it's included in the Legecy bundle, which is like some sort of CE. Not even the standard version will get the MW remaster.
I'd been hoping they would go full on Sci-fi, instead of all the half steps to remain 'plausible'.
This is going to sell well because of MW I'll be getting it because of MW, Hopefully it's a good remaster which improves the graphics & a rock solid 60fps.
@banacheck considering the ps3 version had a rock solid 60 it would be a disgrace for this not too
@crazykcarter I believe the MW remaster will be a digital download. There is a chance that Activision will opt to sell it separately at some point but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't sell it for a few months after releasing Infinite Warfare - kind of an early access bonus for those that buy the Legacy Edition. It only has half the maps too.
I must admit, I am interested in Infinite Warfare and would be regardless of the MW remake. MW3 was a mess but we know that IW were in a very difficult place - its very much a case of too many cooks! Ghosts got a lot of criticism but from a technical PoV it was far more solid than MW3. Considering IW only had 2yrs and only received next gen dev kits a couple of months before launch as well as trying to release on so many different formats - they didn't have other studio's handling last gen development etc - I think the game fundamentally played well. It had great hit detection (contributed to the fast TTK) which after BO2's slow TTK took a bit of getting used too and the DLC Maps were some of the best in CoD history. I liked the fact that the game was far less 'serious' and more 'arcade' in its approach with things like Ghost Pirates, Predator, Mike Myers etc.
The downside to Infinite Warfare (as far as I am concerned) is that we probably won't be getting a sequel to Ghosts campaign - after the twist at the end, I was interested to see where that went. I hope Extinction comes back too - whilst not as 'good' as Zombies, it was a lot of fun.
@crazykcarter
It's still incredibly lame to force the remaster of MW with Infinite Warfare, most likely for 80-100 dollars.......how the gaming industry has changed.
Ghosts was a lot better than the 'internet' would have you believe. It struggled because of the split user base - people playing on last gen and new gen consoles and therefore we had 'smaller' lobbies than BO2. Friends that played on BO2 were split up by changing to next gen and also by switching from one (like XB360) to a different console (to PS4) so lost a lot of the 'social' aspect. BO2 was also a bit slower in every way - movement, TTK etc and that takes a bit of getting used to. Going from getting a lot of kills and few deaths to being killed a lot can put people off but that was in part down to the much better hit detection and the improvements made to the engine and so lag/host compensation wasn't so much of an issue.
IW always make more 'straight forward campaigns. Treyarchs are far more 'experimental' - certainly since Black Ops. I doubt Infinite Warfare will be any different. I know the 'story's' are a little cliché with a few twists and turns all in a cinematic and explosive setting. I know MW was a 'great' campaign because we had never seen a 'main' character you are playing get killed off, not really seen changes of pacing like this had with twists at the end and a lot of things we had seen on the news (like laser targetting in the Gulf war) we had a similar mission (the look like Ants) so got to play this. All future games, despite often being 'better; couldn't match the 'impact' of the first. Its why very often movie franchises don't live up to the 'first' (I know there are exceptions of course). The first time you see the Transformers transform for example is amazing but by the 4th movie its lost a lot of that impact and this also applies to CoD's campaigns. It can't kill off a 'main' character again because it will not have the same impact, every 'stealth' mission gets compared to CoD4's where that had 'no' comparison in this context.
As for offering a remaster, I don't know if that's a good thing or not. With the XB1's BC, we have seen a number of games offer their earlier games as a 'bonus'. Fallout 4 offered Fallout3, Doom is offering Doom 1 and 2, Rainbow Six Seige offered Rainbow Six Vegas 1 and 2. Because Sony doesn't offer any BC, the only way they can offer an old game is by porting it and therefore might as well touch up the visuals a bit.
As someone who has bought at least the 'hardened' edition for 7 out of the last 9 and all of the last 5, I would MUCH prefer an included 'Season Pass' for the latest game rather than a 'remaster' of a game I already have and could play. The Season Pass, I guess, is a bit of an 'unknown' and I do feel a bit let down by the 'Advanced Warfare' Atlas Pro edition - not because the 'Season Pass' content was 'poor' but because the core game itself was and the maps don't change the 'exo-movement' that ruined the 'flow' of the game. Ghosts DLC was excellent though overall and I certainly got my 'money's' worth out of that. I have no doubt that I will get my money's worth from BO3's too - just on the Zombies alone let alone the Maps!.
I bought Fallout 4 for XB1 but haven't touched Fallout 3. I wouldn't mind having CoD4 but I also know that a lot of things that wouldn't be accepted in a modern CoD (if they released these now) would be severely criticised. Its limited perks are not very balanced and some weapons (M16) are very strong. It was also the game that 'camping', quick/no scoping etc really started to become an issue. Frag x 3 and no flak jacket, Stopping power is 'essential'... Trouble is that because it was the first game to really introduce a lot of the things we take for granted in a CoD game and no other game offered these things, it was 'OK' because we didn't know better. The 'new' outweighed the 'frustrating' but now its not new anymore...
I don't see the price point as being 'Harsh' at all. If you want the 'full' game experience, you can buy the standard version at a standard price. You get the full campaign, full MP, full co-op experience. The premium (in this case Legacy addition) offers an 'extra' and separate experience. You can get that experience in FULL by buying the PS3/XB360 version although I don't know if the MP will have many people in it. I think CoD4 remaster will be a bit of nostalgia but I can see people getting a bit frustrated by its limitations and balance too. I can see people playing for a bit but get bored.
I'd be more intrested if they got rid of the SP and focused on MP. I'll probably get this just for MW.
An alien race? They sound a little too similar like Killzone's Helgast.
@xMEADx
That's complete blasphemy!! You........people.
@sub12 It is lame but Activision is not stupid. They know that even if Infinite Warfare is bad people will buy it just for the MW Remaster.
Not buying this at all, done with Call of Duty. Plus Battlefield 5 is supposed to launch this year and I already know which multiplayer FPS game I'd rather be playing.
Doom and n battlefield 5 , unless this wows me enough, that is.
I'm interested in MW but not Infinite Warfare. If I can't just buy MW then I guess I will pass.
"Ripped from the history books." lol what if there is time travel involved and they want to kill your grandpa in the past or something? "There's yer filthy non-future COD. It still has future stuff in it."
Another hit for Activision. And why not? There's simply no other developer out there who can create an action packed FPS military blockbuster year on year. Until the whiners can produce a decent FPS their opinion counts little. Back seat drivers meh!
