The LEGO games have become a little stagnant as of late, adding more content, yet not many mechanics. By the looks of its new gameplay trailer, though, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens looks to change that.
There's plenty of new gameplay features, most notably a new space battle mode, where you'll be able to fly X-Wings, TIE Fighters, and other ships around different locations, engaging in dogfights and completing objectives. Blaster Battles are also included, in which the gameplay switches to that of a third-person cover shooter – as if we need more of those – and the addition of Multi-Builds allows players to choose different paths and solutions to puzzles in different missions. Enemy AI will now be able to build their own objects, too.
More interestingly are the new details on the story missions that take place between Episodes 6 and 7. There'll be missions concerning the adventures of Poe Dameron, how Han Solo and Chewbacca got to where they were in The Force Awakens, and the backstory of Lor San Tekka, a character who only gets a couple of minutes of screen time in the actual film. Of course, the typical charming TT Games humour is also present.
