According to rumours that just won't go away, a sequel to Red Dead Redemption is in the works - but with all of this whispering, it's easy to forget that Grand Theft Auto V will be three years old in September. As such, it comes as no real surprise that a new report is stating Rockstar's begun work on the inevitable Grand Theft Auto 6.
Sources "close to the company" have confirmed to TechRadar that the title is now in development - but no specifics have been shared. The source also claims that a setting hasn't been decided upon as of yet, but we suppose that such details aren't really expected at this point. After all, Grand Theft Auto 6 could easily be little more than a concept at this stage.
True or not, Rockstar will obviously be looking to the future with regards to a new instalment in its staggeringly popular franchise, although it's more than likely that we won't be hearing anything official for a long time yet.
Still, do you have any hopes for Grand Theft Auto 6? Where would you like the game to be set? Crack a safe in the comments section below.

Maybe Rockstar should get GTA five working properly first. Don't know about anyone else but I'm getting pretty tired of being used as an unpaid tester for their unfinished projects. After all slave labour was meant to be abolished so either pay us to test them or make sure it works before you put it out there.
Looking forward to a reduces price GTA V then finally. I'd prefer to see Bully 2 or Red Dead 2, something new even.
Correction GTA6 was in production probably a month after GTA5 was released...On PS3.
@Dr_Coos74 I bet you're one of those people who complain about all the FREE update contents too.
@Dr_Coos74 The game is working fine thou?
@ApostateMage More than happy with the new stuff added in the updates but since GTA V has grossed $2.079.480.000 you can't call them free. I just miss the days of games working from the day they are released. if your happy to do unpaid work that's fine but don't just jump in with an assumption that I'm not happy with the game because I am I just don't agree with the way all game manufacturers are taking our money and then using us to test them. If you bought a TV and found it didn't work properly then you'd want a refund and you'd be entitled to it so why should we put up with it with games.
@ApostateMage they might be "free" but you have to put hours apon hours into the game just to be able to afford what's in that content, or else purchase Shark Cards. The in game items that are released are way too overpriced as well, like it cost $8mil for a yacht which is $99 real dollars to buy that with in game cash.
Never finished IV or V but hell bring it on!
@SkanetWasTaken I doubt they will use a real city.
Honestly I am hoping for a return trip to Vice City. VI took us back to Liberty City and V we went back to Los Santos, so it would be great to see a modern Vice City.
@KAPADO Yep, it is a never ending cycle, much the same way Bethesda treats Elder Scrolls. I am looking forward to GTA6, but I am MUCH MORE hyped for RDR2. That will be an instant classic for me.
@DR_coos74 What exactly wasn't finished with the game? Other than some story DLC that they eluded to releasing and havent, what else was missing from the initial release. I played through the entire game and never got to a point where I said Hey, can't believe they just didn't finish the story here.
@SkanetWasTaken @Tasuki Apparently, Rockstar nearly made a Grand Theft Auto set in Tokyo.
They made the trip to Japan in order to scout it as a potential setting for a new game. This was around the time of GTA 3 and Vice City but the plan fell through thanks to the structure of Tokyo streets.
@WanderingBullet Yeah I read that article too a few days ago. I know that had a London one but after that one they tend to stick to made up cities based off of real ones.
@Majic12 I'm not even that hyped for #RDR2 because I know it's coming.
I loved the first one.
I'll worry about it after uncharted 4 and when e3 comes around it will poke it's cowboy head out.
@Dr_Coos74 You're talking absolute rubbish. They did release free content regardless of the total revenue earned. They also released the campaign first which in my experience worked just fine. They did have a few connection issues once they released the online side of GTAV, but that was to be expected with the amount of traffic.
Why don't you do yourself a favour and purchase the games later on instead of crying about a game that nobody else on here had an issue with.
So when do the "it's a PS4.5 exclusive" rumours start?
And you know, it will have to be an exclusive too, b/c any game the PS4 can't run, the Xbox One won't be able to run either, and I doubt NX will be able to run it either, though the jury is still out on that one.
Wouldn't it be funny though if Sony were working on improving the PS4 just to compete w/ a Nitnedo NX powerhouse? Some NX dev insider must have spilled the beans by now to someone at Sony what NX is going to be, no?
Though GTA on a Nintendo platform I really can't imagine at all. I'm still waiting for HBO Go on my Wii U, but I know that will never happen either, too much sex and violence.
really just want bully 2 more than anything, but something new would be awesome too! and i certainly wouldnt be upset about a red dead sequel, that would also be awesome
Message from the future: GTA6 was released six months ago and GTA5 is still in the top ten sales chart
@Dr_Coos74 I never played online, is that the section of the game with all the issues?
As for the discussion on sequels we all know the Rockstar game everyone wants......
Table Tennis 2. What a classic, The best Rockstar game ever.
@themcnoisy Yes it's online that has the problems and it seems to be after every update. However they usually get round to fixing them. Usually just before the next update.
@Dr_Coos74 That's a problem with most online games and I 100% agree monetization in paid games is disgusting. Its why I prefer single player and offline games.
The single player in gta v is pretty special and I stopped after finishing the main game.
@themcnoisy thanks bud. Good to see someone who doesn't just skim over these post and takes the time to read it properly and give a sensible response.
Great idea to revisit table tennis. It would be good to have a hassle free fun game again.
Glasgow, it has to be Glasgow. To hell with the sun, glitz and glamour.
I keep hearing London and Tokyo tossed around the web, but I am pretty certain there have already been open world type games in those cities, correct me if I'm wrong. I would rather they do a GTA World. Start out with one continent, then add more and more as DLC, so the customer can take it as far as they want. I guess this would probably be asking to much, but would be cool nonetheless.
Can't wait and looking at old trends, it will be NYC again! I'm never worried about the stories which they do amazing jobs with, but I hope they improve whole experience for starting a job or mini game.
I like being able to have my team/crew enter the lobby and play another crew.
I enjoyed V a lot, I hit a nasty bug in the ps3 version but there was a work around. If they put the same quality in care in VI as they did in V I'm in.
@Dr_Coos74 You must be talking about GTA Online. The actual game (the one with Michael, Trevor and Franklin), which I paid $60 for, and have spent over 200 hours with alone, is well worth the price of admission. Good on Rockstar for releasing a game that was truly spectacular without having to pay extra. The online is not a broken mess, it's the frosting on top of a meaty offering from Rockstar.
I'm sorry, but if they make GTA 6 in Tokyo, I won't buy that game. IF you want something similar to that, get Sleeping Dogs. They could actually continue where GTA V left off and start it off in a new city with Trevor or any of the other two people.
If not, I kind would like to make my own character and choose voices for him to play, like how Saints Row would do it. But if they have another GTA 4 garbage, I'm out. I really hated GTA 4.
Please be Tasmania
I'm looking forward to Red Dead Redemption 2, but not another GTA...they're all the same thing! The only thing that I like about the GTA's is going on a rampage and seeing how long I survive...this part of the game was great when I worked retail! Retail workers know what I'm talking about here! Other than that, how about GTA in a 1940-1960's era!
