Street Fighter V hasn't got off to a great start in the UK sales charts, failing to KO Street Fighter IV's week one sales record all the way back in 2009. While some will see this as a sharp decline, it's perhaps worth remembering that the game did only release on one system, and will have seen a much larger digital share than its predecessors. Of course, the limited single player content and server issues won't have helped its cause.
To its credit, it did still finish second in the best sellers list, with Call of Duty: Black Ops III fending it off to hold onto first position. FIFA 16 battled for a Champions League place in third, while LEGO Marvel's Avengers and Grand Theft Auto V rounded out the top five. There wasn't a whole lot of change elsewhere, though Killzone: Shadow Fall did continue its climb up the charts – it's now up to 22nd place!

It is crazy, but in it's defense, I still haven't seen a more detailed open world (even though I love TW3, I'll still say that).
As for SFV, all eyes are on you Capcom, it either goes down as a disappointment or they attack the problems head on by being concise and giving the content that everybody wants (and not just what the pro's and the wannabe pro's want).
Blops 3 sales were down 25% on the previous weeks and its not like Capcom didn't market SFV so it is a little bit of a shocker that.
I brought GTAV twice and regret nothing.
@sub12 Yeah GTA definitely deserves much success for what it achieved. It was a big improvement in many ways to those before it.

I think Street Fighter V will sell well over it's life time, considering it's definitely the best Street Fighter gameplay wise. It just a shame it released in such a bare bone state, but give it a few months & it won't have that problem. Hopefully Capcom will release that arcade mode sooner rather then later, seeing as they are considering it.
I would have bought SFV if not for the lack of single player content. I understand that it was released for the pros to compete on, but it doesn't justify a £50 price tag as it stands today. Unfortunately, I may have moved on by the time the story content hits.
Considering the competition I think SFV did well to get 2nd. On steam the game so far has sold over 96k, for comparison's sake MKX sold over 500k in it's life and that was a game with a troubled launch too and all PC support has been dropped, something Street Fighter won't be doing. If anyone on here is in two minds in getting it then I strongly urge you to because it's an incredible Fighter, if you prefer to wait then cool because it will be an essential purchase.

To be fair, Street Fighter tends to be a long-term seller as well. It will still be selling plenty of copies years from now. I really don't think the day one server issues helped its cause, either.
I was going to make the possible excuse that in 2009, the PS3 and 360 had larger install bases than the PS4 and Xbox One do now... But that's not true, the latter two are ahead of their predecessors.
As others have said, though, SFV is definitely a game that keeps on selling over time.
