Titanfall 2 PS4 PlayStation 4 1

Unlike its predecessor, Titanfall 2 will feature a single player campaign. That's according to an article penned by a Forbes contributor, who spoke with lead writer Jesse Stern. If accurate, the plot promises a modern re-imagining of the American Revolution and the American Civil War in space. "What inspires us is the junction of technological advancement with the inevitability of conflict and war and what the next war might look like," he said.

Apparently you can expect scenes whereby "science meets magic", but despite this, the game will be grounded by a "dirty, human world". Allegedly, work only started on the sequel in late 2014, so it's got its work cut out if it intends to hit EA's expected March 2017 launch date. It's got its work cut out anyway, though: Stern mentions that developer Respawn Entertainment's also collaborating with Lionsgate TV on a television series, but does express reservations as to whether the project will be too expensive to get off the ground.

Either way, it's nice to know that a single player campaign is in the works – especially seeing as the series is about to take its bow on the PlayStation 4 for the first time. Has this tidbit increased your interest in the sci-fi sequel? Drop a titan in the comments section below.
