Mainline Final Fantasy games have always been emotionally charged - even if they're a little heavy handed at times - and Final Fantasy XV will likely be no different. However, speaking with Examiner, ever-talkative director Hajime Tabata has stated that the upcoming role-playing release is "not going to be a love story".
"That's not the main focus of the game," he continues. "It has those elements of love and romance within the broader story of Noctis's growth as a person." In other words, we can probably expect an entanglement of relationships between the title's main cast of characters, rather than the narrative focusing on feelings of teenage angst between Noctis and Lunafreya, his bride to be. Sounds good to us.
The next instalment in Square Enix's acclaimed franchise is still on track to launch at some point in 2016, so it's safe to say that we'll be seeing a lot more of it in the coming months. Are you still hyped? Tell us of your ten year love story in the comments section below.

ai i still hyped, OF COURSE I AM IT'S FINAL FANTASY MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE GAME SERIES
plus Episode Duscae was a lot of fun, i really enjoyed it (and i still play it)
Knowing how good the writing will be, it's probably for the best.
No shimapan? That's a shame. Don't really care, the game looks great and I'm sure the story will be too.
The love story in FF8 is what makes it one of my favorite FF games. I can't recall anything like that being the main focus in any of the other games though. I know there are almost always relationships between the main male and female characters but nothing I would call a "love story", more like back story. Even FFX, as prominent as it was between Tidus and Yuna it's all about Sin.
So I'm guessing there will b relevant relationships - in the background - but the story will be about something else. Same as it was for FFXIII.
FF is at it's best when you're saving the world amidst a sexy love triangle, but I'm not sure modern square could write, or at least adequately translate into English, such a story these days so perhaps for the best!
@kyleforrester87 They could, just not hetero.
only good love story Square Enix has ever written is Roxas/Axel
@DualWielding c'mon... Even if you don't like Zidane and Dagger, you can't deny Steiner and Beatrix didn't tug your heart strings
Bunch of guys on a road trip in a weird looking car, with nobody to love, got it.
What about that girl who keeps bending over their car?
I did read this, also:
This Tabata chap does seem to know what he's doing. Like most fans I've been burnt with FF as of late, and I don't care for the FF15 demo, but still I am pretty optimistic about this. Type-0 was pretty great.
"It has those elements of love and romance within the broader story of Noctis's growth as a person."
Oh god he talks exactly like the characters in this game.
@DualWielding
I kind of like Vanille/ Fang's as well (but I've only played XIII, I don't want to play the others in case it ruins their relationship).
btw, Tabata. You can say there's no love all you want, but I have already had my heart stolen. Ignis Stupeo Scientia.... <3
*sigh
( * -*)
Of course I am still hyped!! Final Fantasy is my favorite saga of video games. And I am glad it is not a love story... I feel like it doesn't match the game...
Good don't ruin my bromance man.
