Fallout 4's next patch is entering its beta state on PC, which means that we've been given a glimpse of what's probably coming to the PlayStation 4 version of the game in the next few weeks. Needless to say, there are a ton of bug fixes included in this latest update, but that's not all.
The patch notes - which you can read through here - mention a new "status menu" for settlers. We assume that this will provide a much easier way of keeping track of your settlement's inhabitants, which is something that players have been crying out for since the title launched last year.
On a more personal note, we're somewhat sad to see that MacReady's Killshot perk is being corrected. For those of you who don't know, the marksman's companion perk essentially gives you a 95 per cent chance to hit an opponent's head in V.A.T.S. regardless of the distance between you and the target - but this is obviously some sort of bug. We'll certainly miss picking off raiders from half a mile with our favourite revolver.
Do you see any fixes that may have an impact on your game, or has your journey through the commonwealth been relatively bug-free?

I lost Dogmeat about 80 hours ago. I have no idea where he is haha. I pretty much always roll with Piper anyways.
Have a couple of missions that cannot be completed. They are in several parts and I cannot get the middle part "ticked", bit annoying than a major issue as side quests but nice to know they are making fixes
@Splat Yeah a lot of people have been losing companions. I lost Piper but I'm certainly not upset. However @AlexStinton lost Nick Valentine and he is now heartbroken!
>Fixed an issue where Vault 81 residents would not dismember correctly
Makes you proud to be a gamer.
@Splat
Check the various dog houses in your settlements. There's one in Sanctuary around the back part near the melons that were there originally. If you no longer have any dog houses in any of you settlements, build one where you think he should be. If all else fails, build a dog house in each and every place and check them all. Don't forget about the bell that summons all NPCs, either.
Love all the fixes in the "Workshop" section.
"Fixed issue where player could warp to a different location when aiming": wow, sounds like Portal!
BTW, to recognize settlers one can just dress them differently: armors for defenders, nice outfits for merchants, casual for workers...
I've had no major issues whatsoever, I'll be heading back into Boston next week I think.
I'm glad they have fixed the MacGready perk as my character build is all about VATS and pistols so it was making the game far too easy. Settlement building has huge potential so I hope they add to that down the line. Also they need to increase the build size, I've used the glitch to increase how much I can build and it's had no effect on the performance on the game.
@Splat luckily I haven't lost anyone yet, he should return to a settlement and just look for a doghouse. I've built one on my balcony in Sanctuary and destroyed the rest so I can always find him and everyone else is at the Castle.
Having read through it completely by far the biggest thing for me is not having to use copper for wires. Creating giant light box signs requires every light to be wired to each other, which could be in the hundreds and it's really not that common.
Havnt even installed this yet. What should I play next fallout 4 or Unchartered 2?
I lost Dogmeat once, though he appeared at my side again whilst I was in a moving lift. S**t me right up it did, I tell thee.
@themcnoisy Maybe get Uncharted done first. Fallout 4 will easy eat 100+ hours. Uncharted on the other hand isn't very long.
Put a few hours into this so far, not met any particularly interesting characters yet unfortunately. It's kinda fun exploring though, usually come across something of interest after a few minutes wondering.
I'm honestly surprised I didn't hit any game breaking bugs, just the sitting on thin air and floating guns that come with bethsoft games.
@Simon_Fitzgerald @Splat
It still hurts..... please come back Nick, I miss you.
@LieutenantFatman As someone who is a big fan of Fallout 1 and 2 and has always found Bethesda games bland - though fun, purely down to the sheer quantity of things to do and the immersion - this is the closest Bethesda have got in terms of having vivid characters with well defined personalities. The general NPCs are nothing special - although still a cut above the FO3 and TES ones - but the followers are the most characterful characters they've done yet. Try to find Nick, Cait, Curie and Piper. Do their quests as well.
@AlexStinton Nick's a great character. He could be the main character in his own point-and-click adventure mystery game and it would be amazing.
Have you gone around each of your towns ringing all the bells? Apparently people can also go back to their default location (e.g. Nick's office) in some cases.
@Matroska Yep, I spent hours doing all of that.
Every play session I'd try it all again in the hope Nick had come back into my life. Alas, he was never to be seen again.
@Matroska I'll give it a go, thanks!
@themcnoisy well you can polish of Uncharted 2 in under 10 hours I reckon (Uncharted 3 in a similar time incidently), whereas I've put 22 hours into Fallout and I feel like I've barely scratched the service (just got to Diamond city for example). And I'm a "tick the quests off" kind of RPG player too rather than a wanderer
@Hego @stevie85 Unchartered 2 it is!
@AlexStinton You're not alone Alex, I lost Nick about 90 hours in and he's been gone ever since. Absolutely no idea where he is - I go to just about every settlement on a regular basis to build stuff/trade stuff, and he's never in any of them.
Knowing Bethesda games reasonably well (about 3000 combined hours on Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 attest to that) I'm starting to think he must be stuck inside of some separate cell - in other words, he's not in the open world. He may well be stuck in a building or dungeon somewhere, and we'll just randomly stumble across him one day. Or at least, I hope we will.
@ShogunRok Did you check his office? Or Piper's house? Last one's a long shot but he does have a trigger to go there for at least one quest and it may have gone wrong and sent him there for no reason.
@Matroska Yeah, I checked everywhere main quest related ages ago, and I check his office basically every time I go to Diamond City. It's baffling. Pretty sure he went missing after I dismissed him, sending him to Greygarden. It's been roughly 300 hours since then, though, and still no sign of him.
I have a problem with accidentally picking up items for quests before i talk to quest giver now i can never complete the quest because i cant find quest giver(silver shroud side quest) and also you cant drop quest items so thanks bethesda for screwing up my game

Found many bug's but none game breaking just annoying, I think there's some decent fix's in that list I hope the patch is soon. Love this game i'm going to have the Commonwealth looking like Derbyshire by the time the year's out and I canny wait for new content, I want to know what addition's they will bring for settlement's etc I wish they would let us rebuild whole city's but I doubt it. Amazing game and still my GOTY
Level 37 first play and no game breaking bugs on my ps4. Frame rate drops in some areas and long loading times are my big issues.
Not many big issues but lots of small ones like how all actions seem slow and laggy except for basic walking and running. Building stuff needs a tutorial along with better overal instructions so connecting power lines and switching to fists from weapons is not a big secret that needs googled.
There is also a disappointing amount of creatures to battle. New Vegas had herds of Deathclaws and swarms of Cazadors along with packs of various giant Geckos. I like the Boston setting but there is not enough danger for me.
