Dynasty Warriors 8, the last main Dynasty Warriors title, released back in 2013, but even though its core has been expanded upon with the likes of Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Compete Edition on PlayStation 4 and Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires, we honestly thought that we'd see an official reveal for the inevitable Dynasty Warriors 9 in 2015 - but it never happened.
Publisher Koei Tecmo seems to be aware of fans' expectations, however. Posting on the series' official Japanese website - translated by Gematsu - producer Akihiro Suzuki writes "Last year, we welcomed the 15th anniversary of the Dynasty Warriors series, and we were not able to deliver the news fans were expecting. For that, we are very sorry."
It looks like an announcement is coming in 2016, then, as Suzuki continues: "This year, we're preparing to be able to make a big announcement, so please look forward to it."

not surprising really, it's like saying that this year a new Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed or FIFA game will be announced
but unlike those series, Dynasty Warriors are still fun to play
I'll be picking up nobunaga at some point instead

@FullbringIchigo DW8 xtreme legends was rubbish. I'm a huge fan but that was a woeful game.
If Koei can expand on the engine from One Piece Pirate Warriors however they are onto a huge win. Give us more Gundam as well!!!

I'm hoping that Koei makes a version of DW with the fighting system from Warriors:Ledends of Troy ! It would be quite fun to try something new before the 9th series.
Okay. I love dw and have played every game but why on earth would they remove English voices for empires? It really makes zero sense and can I just say dw8 empires was a huge let down compared to dw7 empires and I really hope the English voices come back
