Well, this is interesting. Sony dropped the price of the PlayStation 4 down to $299.99 over the Black Friday weekend, but it's not done with the low-price promotion just yet. The platform holder has announced that starting 6th December through until 19th December it'll be reducing the system again, with one of two bundles boasting Star Wars Battlefront on the box.
This is a cut-throat tactic from the Japanese giant and it's going to be richly rewarded if it can keep stock replenished. The Force Awakens, as you should already know, is due out on 18th December, which means that this specially branded set is going to be riding the marketing hype train that Disney has been fuelling over the past few years. It's going to be big.
For those out of the loop, the Star Wars Battlefront bundle includes a bog-standard 500GB Jet Black console, a copy of DICE's first-person shooter, and four classic Star Wars games. As stated, it'll be available for $299.99 through the abovementioned dates. If you're not feeling the force, then the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection set will also be available at the same price.
This is a really aggressive move from a company that's already dominating the industry, and it's going to result in some pretty gigantic PS4 sales over the course of the month. It'll be interesting to see how and when the competition react, because this move feels like it's come out of nowhere – and it may leave the other major gaming manufacturers scrambling to respond.

Nearing half of what I paid at launch, I'd recommend anyone who doesn't have one yet and can afford it, to jump aboard. But if it's a ps4 or rent, please by all means choose your home haha.
@NomNom Agreed. It's not going to go cheaper than $299 with a game for a while, so if you've been sitting on the fence and you have the spare cash, now is the time to upgrade.
@Strofan7 Still a good price, though!
Maybe the "slim" is coming sooner than expected and they are just trying to clear out stock. Maybe Uncharted 4 will get a slim 1TB bundle.
Sorry, I'm running out of excuses not to get one. But I can't, not with Bayonetta 1/2 and XCX under the tree, that's like 4 solid months of gaming for me right there. I am holding off on Lego Dimensions though, read bad things about the Wii U technicalities, my kids can play Disney Infinity and SKylanders for a few months. Birthday in July but my gift might come early. Would really like an FFXV bundle though. Maybe PSX will tell us more about 2016.
I wonder if Ntinedo will try to lower Wii U, I couldn't believe I saw it back up to $299 after the weekend was over, thought $279 was here to stay, on sale for $250. They shouldn't really be the same price even if they are technically the same gen. PS4 should be $50 more expensive just for the 500GB HDD and blu-ray player.
Good strategy by Sony.
299.99 is more than a great deal for the PS4.
Sony wins!
Flawless Victory!
Brutality!
@rjejr
Last year the Wii Us here were €149 for the 8gb set and €189 for the 32gb bundle. This year I figured I could pick some up before I went back to SA, but they were €300 everywhere. The best deal I saw was €279 for the Splatoon/ SSB bundle. If they would've lowered their price officially to €199/ $199 I'm sure lots of gamers wouldn't be able to pass such a deal, now it's just killing me so many won't get to experience these wonderful games.
OT: What a knockout punch from Sony! MS did everything right: they had cheap bundles, GoW, Forza, Halo and TR released exclusively and they added BC... But the PS4 just seems unstoppable!
@get2sammyb I'm hoping by November 2016 the PS4 will be $300 New normally, and then a $50 price drop to $250 new during BF/CM 2016 and Xmas 2016 sales.
@rjejr Same here, though I plan on getting a $220 32 inch 1080p HDTV and a $200 500GB Xbox 360 for Christmas.
I'll buy a 3DS and Wii U by Spring or Summer 2016, hopefully.
