Feeling glum

It would have been an absolute catastrophe if Halo 5: Guardians failed to top the sales charts, but it did – outselling the launch numbers of Assassin's Creed Syndicate by 50 per cent. Of course, it's worth noting that Ubisoft's open world romp through London was the poorest performing entry in the property thus far, and was on sale for a few days less.

Nevertheless, that's still a great achievement for Microsoft's flagship franchise on a single format – credit where credit's due. In other news, FIFA 16 dribbled into third as WWE 2K16 choke-slammed fourth. Grand Theft Auto V, Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, and Watch Dogs – boosted by bundles – rounded out the top ten, with Guitar Hero Live landing in 11th place.

One thing worth noting is the performance of Minecraft: Story Mode, which launched at retail last week. The boxed version includes the series' first episode, and a download code to redeem the rest. It entered in fifth, perhaps serving as a reminder of the popularity of Mojang's mega-hit. We've included the full top ten for your perusal below.
