This is the kind of news that we'd expect to find Under the Rotting Pizza: Final Fantasy VII composer Nobuo Uematsu will not be returning to score the title's forthcoming PlayStation 4 remake. Asked by French website Jeux Video whether he'll be involved with the hotly anticipated project, he simply responded: "Not at all." Let the Battles Begin!
It's not a massive surprise we suppose, seeing as Uematsu-san left Square Enix in 2004. However, he has been contracted by the company to work on various Final Fantasy titles since, and seeing as his work on Final Fantasy VII is so iconic, we'd have liked to have seen him involved. We suppose that there's still time for the publisher to get on the blower…

That's a shame, but I'm confident that most composers would be able to modernise existing music.
not unexpected, he hasn't worked on FF since 2010 and the original FFXIV
Don't really mind providing the vast majority of the soundtrack are simply remade versions by other artists. There have been some brilliant covers already, most recently this album:

A shame but expected. Easily one of the most talented composers to ever work in video games. All of his Final Fantasy soundtracks have been incredible - the series lost a lot of its charm when it lost him.
I really enjoyed the Vinyl Fantasy VII album: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e0KOyF1AB7M
I'm not surprised either. I do think that the music will be fine though, as long as it's not radically different (i.e. completely different tracks that don't fit or dubstep One Winged Angel). Nevertheless, someone is going to cry RUINED FOREVER!!!!!
FFXV isn't even out, yet here we are again discussing FFVII. I know everyone is excited, but I don't wanna jinx it so FFXV gets postponed again. When will we even see FFVII realistically speaking? 2018? I can't see it coming any earlier actually and although the initial reveal was great, it would have been better at e3 2017 imo, because 2016 will be all about FFXV (I hope).
@Boerewors there are 2 different teams working on these games so i doubt FFXV will be delayed by the FFVII Remake or vice versa
Now Kingdom Hearts III on the other hand....
I can wait, just get it right. (They won't get it right but screw it it'll be fun to play through anyway!)
The interlude tune still makes hairs stand up on my neck. Ff13 ditched it completely.
I've thought this for ages - but any of the old guard who are still alive should be re employed. The mechanics, stats and levelling were ahead of the time and in many ways still are. FF9 HD - just imagine that!! The main tune to ff9 is epic as well Kudos.
Not a big deal, at all. There are plenty of talented composers out there, and I'm sure the music will just be remastered versions of the original tracks. No need to create all new music, and no need for a high priced composer only to remaster his own tracks, IMO. Yes it would have been cool, and nostalgic, but it is definitely not a deal breaker.
Yeah with the gameplay supposedly being more actiony and now this, it's kinda hard to keep any level of hype up. Atleast the original version won't be going anywhere.
Not related to the music, but they should put the story from advent child, and both vincent's games on the remake!
If they just changed it up a little bit doubt I'd notice it's been so long since I played the original. And I've watched Advent Children a few times since then. But really, 1 Winged Angel, don't mess it up.
And I've played a few dozen JRPG since then, and half the battle music sounds like FF battle music. And a quarter of those games have Cosmo Canyon as well. So as long as it's similar I'm good.
Not sure this is an issue. The tracks are already composed they just need orchestrating. Many already have been over the years, performed by live orchestras, or remixed for other games.
i wonder if it will sound anything like the one used in this (the old PS3 Tech Demo)
