Horizon: Zero Dawn PS4 PlayStation 4 1

Killzone, if you don't know, had some absolutely magnificent lore behind it – Guerrilla Games just botched the storytelling time after time again. Horizon: Zero Dawn is a second chance for the studio to tell an interesting tale, then – and we're part nervous, part excited to see whether the Dutch developer can deliver.

Senior producer Mark Norris thinks that by balancing the approach from open world games and traditional role-playing releases, it's going to have a lot of success. "I think that you can expect […] an incredibly rich story," he told DualShockers. "It's always interesting that open world games ordinarily fall into one of two camps."

Norris explained that there are games like Assassin's Creed, which are primarily about the protagonist, and others like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, which are more interested in the world. Horizon: Zero Dawn, apparently, will fulfil both categories. "We want to tell the story of Aloy," he said. "But we also want to tell the story of the machines, the story of the world, and the story of the tribes."

We're a teensy bit worried that this is going to suffer from Ubisoft syndrome, and you're going to be killing off big machines to liberate the post-apocalyptic lands – but hopefully that's not the case. It's unclear whether we'll be seeing any more of the game during Sony's press conference in Paris tomorrow, but we can always hope, eh?
