PlayStation 4 PS4 Japan Awards 1

Sony's presence at TGS 2015 this week was pretty darn impressive, as it dominated the headlines with a slew of announcements. And the Japanese market appears to have responded, with a gaggle of PlayStation 4 titles leaving the show with awards. Winners included: Star Wars Battlefront, Star Ocean 5: Integrity and Faithlessness, Dragon Quest Builders, The Last Guardian, Final Fantasy XV, Fallout 4, and Persona 5. Nihon Falcom's forthcoming PlayStation Vita exclusive Tokyo Xanadu also got a nod.

Of the ten titles selected, eight will be available on a PlayStation platform. That's significantly more than any other ecosystem, with the Wii U and smartphones not represented at all. Sony will be particularly pleased by the number of winners available on the PS4 – an incredible seven – as it may represent a turning point for the system and its acceptance in the East. With other enormous titles like Yakuza Kiwami and Dragon Quest XI not even mentioned, the future looks bright for the new-gen format.
