Look at that cake. Just look at the bloody thing. Celebrating PlayStation's 20th anniversary in Europe, Sony's had the delightful desert whipped up in celebration - but did it really have to sit Crash Bandicoot on top of the edible consoles?
PlayStation's original orange mascot is now owned by Activision, but that hasn't stopped Sony's public relations team from slapping him into various social media stunts without a care in the world for our poor feelings.
And we're obviously not alone. A constant request from fans all over the world, those who remember Naughty Dog's PSone platformers would love nothing more than to see Crash return to the PlayStation nation - heck, even during Shuhei Yoshida's EGX 2015 panel just a few days ago, one audience member asked about the marsupial's homecoming, which, of course, prompted a hopeful response from the rest of the crowd.
With everyone's desperation in mind, you'd think that Sony would at least stop mentioning gaming's favourite bandicoot, especially since it's always saying that it has no plans to buy him back - yet here we are, with Crash sitting comfortably on top of a nice big cake. Our hearts can't take much more of this.

My heart can't take much more of the teasing, but my grumbling stomach could use a piece of the cake! XD
Ah, those were the days. Crash bandicoot was just pure fun. Crash (the wrath of cortex) was the first game I got on the ps2. Oh if only they would bring it back.
I'm just curious why Activision removed Crash Bandicoot from their website a few years ago? Sony has been secretly and not secretly placing him in adds since the first video advertisements for the PS4 in 2013.
Humm interesting!!!
Cheers!!!
Crash needs a revival, and I hope they can score the orange dude back!
Im sure (cr)ac(k)tivision still has a stranglehokd on the rights , just like they have with commander keen..
That Cake is AMAZING I do miss Crash tho
Crash 1, 2, 3 CTR and Crash Bash bundled into the best remaster ever!?
The cake is a lie.
The only thing I'd say is if they were to make a new Crash game they should make sure not to focus too much on the story and trying to make it stand up alongside things like Ratchet and Clank in that regard. The original trilogy were great because it was all about the gameplay, and everything else by and large took a back seat.
Although I've not played any of them to the same sort of degree as the originals, I remember everything outside of the original trilogy far less favourably.
I never owned a PSOne, but I havê good memories of Crash games, both adventure and racing titles. I'd be all over a brand new Crash 3D platformer.
It would be nice if Crash returned, I always thought he would appear in Skylanders (like Spyro) but it never happened. It's been 5 years since the last crash game, so hopefully something will soon happen/
If they announce Crash at PSX I'll explode.
@get2sammyb
Sony never owned Crash sadly. Universal did. They only had an exclusive publishing deal with Sony (Who sure does love that!) and when Vivendi Universal stopped being a thing, Activision nabbed it. All Sony did was agree to help publish the game, never owning it in the first place.
A simple cake will never quench my hunger for a new Crash
That got weird
Hmm, I wonder if this is a case of read between the lines. We've seen this a few times of the past few years with different franchises. Perhaps it's a case of watch this space...
If Activision does anything with the character it'll just be a Skylanders clone.
Okay, so I often go to late night releases at my local GameStop, and a PlayStation representative is always there. At the last one I went to, he was teasing an absolutely massive mic drop soon, presumably at PSX. I think that will be a CB revival.
I wish Sony could buy crash. But chances are that Activision would jack the price up knowing that Sony would be interested in it.
@milero91 that's a boss idea! We want this!
@milero91 just Crash 1,2,3 and CTR. Crash Bash unfortunately couldn't be included because Naughty Dog didn't feel like it added to the continuity of the story...

Yeah, I'm tired of constant teasing too. I've pretty much learned not to get my hopes up for Crash's return. If it actually happens, I'll be happy. But until it's legitimate, I don't take any news on it at face value.
"You can't have your cake and eat it too. "
I have never understood this saying. Why the hell would you have cake and not eat it ?! That's what cake is for. If I can't eat it, I don't want it.
Sony needs to just buy the Crash IP and get one of its teams on it. Naughty Dog is busy with other stuff now but there are plenty of other capable teams.
Crash bandicoot is one of the games that made me want a Playstation
