The PlayStation 4's taken another tumble as its Japanese price drop nears, selling through just over 4000 units. Sony's newest console should see something of a rebirth once the cut hits early next month, but it remains to be seen whether or not the price drop will have a lasting positive effect on sales without any blockbuster games to go along with it.
Meanwhile, the Vita has maintained its reasonably solid run that's seen it through the last few weeks. The handheld device sold around 19,000 units, and although that isn't a particularly large number, the portable hardware is clearly enjoying some stability in its home nation.

The PS4 numbers just get more pathetic. We can blame the upcoming price cut but I'm not expecting a huge bump from it.
Like the Xbone is such a bestseller...
Its nice to see the Vita getting some love in its home county. Wish the same could be said for the rest of the world.
4000 seems like a lot to me...
poor Xbone... (T-T )
@Vorlon
The Xbox never sells in Japan, there's no point in even discussing that. The PS4 should not be selling this pathetically. It just shows how far the brand has fallen in Japan that Xbox not doing well even needs to be brought up. Like that's breaking news or something.
@Gamer83 seems just to be home consoles dying out, look at the sales figures for MGS on PS3 and PS4, it shouldn't be selling better on PS4 in Japan really, alright it's not a Jrpg but still...
@Bad-MuthaAdebisi
I'd argue it shouldn't be cross-gen but that's a different discussion entirely. I agree with you that home consoles are likely dying out over there and it's frustrating and disappointing to watch because there are still Japanese devs with plenty to offer to the market even if it's not the old powerhouses.
Vita sells better than PS4. I love it. And the XB1 still barely manages to sell 200 units. This is like watching a gladiator game, you know someone might die but it's still exciting,
Resident Evil Revelations 2 for Vita is surprisingly high on the list. Even after it apparently being a sluggish port. I'd buy it if it went retail. What's weird is the port was not handled by a Japanese game company.
