Dragon Quest Heroes was supported quite well in Japan after its launch thanks to a slew of free downloadable content. Quests, cosmetic items, and even a new playable character were added to the game free of charge - and the good news is that all of this stuff will be included on the disc when the title releases in Europe and North America this October.
According to Square Enix, these extras will be unlocked once you reach a certain point in the main story, and you'll access them by heading to the post office and reading their accompanying letters. Sounds easy enough, we suppose.
Are you excited for Dragon Quest Heroes? Are you happy that we're getting all of the DLC at launch? Give us a thumbs up in the comments section below.

On one hand I dont like "Warriors" type games, but on the other hand I like mindless brawling games, most probably will buy this too, but not sure yet.
@Melucine From what I understand, this is more action RPG than it is 'Warriors'. You're still fighting whole groups of enemies, but it's not just mindless hack and slashing for the most part.
Either way, we'll have a review of it for sure.
Yay! Been quite excited for this one
@ShogunRok If it is more action RPG then I am definitely going to buy that!
I need this game in my life.
Want Gundam 4 or Fist of the North star
"On- disc DLC is the worst thing to ever happen to our industry"
Not anymore!
I urge ALL DQ fans to buy this. This game may decide if we'll ever have another DQ game in the west again. Squere Enix basically said so themselves. Is it fun then?, those who I've talked to said so. They imported it from Japan. And well, they said it was better than Hyrule Warriors. The game looks great too.
Already have this preordered! Can't wait to play ever since it was announced. Hope they localize Dragon Quest Builders too!
Since when did we decide to call unlockables DLC? It just doesn't make sense. It's on the disc, it's free, and you unlock it at certain story points. Not DLC
@Zup In this case, it's purely because it was originally released in Japan as DLC.
I don't know why people are so concerned with DQ not coming out here. We've missed one DQ, it wasn't very good, it was a paid MMO and it was on two terrible consoles which led it to be the worst selling numbered DQ of all time. Of course they're very reluctant to release that here. We already got DQVII and VIII on Sony consoles, it's just NIntendo ports that we're missing. Man, we even got DQVIII on iOS. DQXI will obviously release in the West, it's back on a Sony console and 90% of PS4 owners are outside of Japan.
@Zup Did you read the article? This is the DLC in Japan, it is content that was downloabable in Japan. We are getting that on the disc, so the Japanese DLC will be on the disc for us. What do you want them to call it? Content formerly known as downloadable? Also, going by your logic, if you buy a game digitally then the whole thing is DLC.
Waiting to see what these DLCs are once Amazon has updated the product's information. At the moment, in states that the Day One Edition only includes exclusive in-game Slime weapons.
@ShogunRok I'm hoping that it's not just mindless hack and slashing a bunch of enemies for the most part as well. Otherwise, I'll be skipping this game. Looking forward to the review.
Here is hoping it isn't just a giant "warriors" style game that gives huge fan service to dragon Quest fans. Regardless I really want dq11, and if buying this will help that in any way, I'm in.
@Matroska Fair enough. I had missed that part.
No we missed LOTS of games. All the 3DS remakes. Not just the online game. And that's prolly because the DS remakes didn't sell as well as they thought they would. I mean they did do excellent in Japan obviously. People over here just prefer Final Fantasy when it comes to JRPGs. Even if it's terrible FF13 games. That's the ugly truth.
@Riririn cue dramatic Hollywood voice But we have the power to change it!
Man, so confusing. DLC? Downloadable content, on the disc? It's free, and it's on the disc... so, what do we call it... "part of the game"?
