Much like The Last of Us before it, Uncharted 4: A Thief's End will get a story expansion. Buried in the game's release date reveal, Sony has confirmed that pre-orders for the Digital Deluxe Edition on the PlayStation Store will include access to the Uncharted 4 Triple Pack, which will include "future access to the first-ever, single player story add-on for the Uncharted series and two multiplayer packs that will unlock new, rare, and legendary multiplayer items".
To be honest, Naughty Dog's going absolutely crazy with pre-order items and special editions – we're stumbling into Assassin's Creed territory here – but this sounds like the most tantalising option if the DLC is as good as Left Behind. Don't worry if you're not planning on purchasing any of the special editions for the forthcoming sequel, though, as the abovementioned Triple Pack will be available separately, too.

The last of us had some truly awful dlc items like the ability to jump higher in multiplayer.
Story expansions are good (me2 is a prime example) hopefully not at the expense of the Main story (ass creed 2).
Either way I think this is the biggest Sony release on the horizon.
I hate when they announce DLC before the game comes out...
@NomNom I don't care as long as it's not been pulled out of the game. I mean, Naughty Dog will probably have the next two or three years mapped out in terms of resources right, so they need to decide early if they're going to do SP DLC or not. I don't see any harm in announcing it really.
I already pre-ordered it on the ps store and they just announced a theme for those who pre-order the game ... so the question is do i get the theme or i won't because i pre-ordered it too early? :3
@themcnoisy "Biggest Sony release on the 'Horizon'"
I see what you did there.
@NomNom me too
I dunno, story DLC for a game like Uncharted actually makes me uncomfortable. Unless it's a side story of some sort, I more or less view DLC for a game focused on story to be unnecessary.
Hopefully ND don't get cocky now. Last thing we need is another dev team who pulls this kind of thing and fully believes they'll get away with it.
What this game needs is a Cryptarch
Regular edition for me! Multiplayer doesn't really interest me, and I'll have finished and resold the game long before the DLC hits!
Didn't ND make the dlc stand alone as well? Id look at that perhaps.
I want to play as a younger Sully.
@Cron_13 That's exactly what they want to stop. Single player games get finished within 2 weeks traded back and are then circulated through the second hand cycle. This is an attempt to make sure people keep hold of their games thus earn more profit for longer with a release.
But this is the crossroads and the biggest question for game makers and producers..
Do they
a) want to give us a rich, focused and working straight out of the box experience?
b) give us a stretched out unfinished game at launch which will make more money with tacked on multiplayer, story dlc and avatar clothes?
The answers B unfortunately.
I can see Naughty Dog getting really bad press if they nickel and dime us, and that would be a pity with their hard won reputation.
I want the expansion story to be about Doughnut Drake. haha
@get2sammyb "Will get story DLC on PS4"
I spent way too much time trying get to figure out which version of the game wasn't getting the story DLC. Xbox One? Uh, no. PS3? Not anymore. Vita? ha ha ha.
"On PS4". Guess the joke was on me.
@rjejr I didn't think I would laugh this hard when it's so late. Thank you for making my night!
@themcnoisy Good points and that's pretty much what it comes down to for me. I find (I'm generalising here as I've not played Uncharted 4 obviously...) games like this to be "a one off experience" (Last of Us was for me), I stay away from DLC in general because I personally don't agree with the pricing they charge for these "season passes", and in all honesty there are too many games out there that I want to play, so would I hold onto a game I can take a £5-10 loss on or trade it in for something new (DLC tends to be months and months into a game's release, by which point the resale has dropped significantly).
Then there is the over inflated pricing of digital games, meaning I'll more than likely buy it on disc anyway which gives me the option of resale in the first place!
Indie games have the right idea - look at something like Ori and The Blind Forest. Cost me a little shy of £10, my playthrough lasted 10 or so hours and was one of the best gaming experiences on a next gen console so far. The expansion is coming out soon and I fully expect to buy that, because it was a reasonably priced, polished, excellent product. Same for something like Resogun - I bought the season pass (great value at a few quid) and the game has given me hours of game play. And what did Bungie charge for their "expansions"? £20+ for what was 3 story missions and a raid?! please.
The industry is too scared to rock the boat with retailers (good video on this by Kinda Funny Games) and gamers, look at what happened to Microsoft with the XBOX One.
@Cron_13 And with that do you fancy playing resogun co-op later to get the trophy?
Thanks for recommending ori and the blind forest. Might just pick it up.
IT'S OKAY WHEN NAUGHTY DOG DOES IT.
But seriously, this is just garbage practice. Even if you're planning dlc at least have the decency to lie until the main game is out already like everyone else.
