Push Rewind 1

Sorry for the tardiness with Push Rewind this week, readers – your humble host started Life Is Strange: Episode 4 on Sunday evening, and it was longer than expected. Holy crap, right? Anyway, we know that you demand your regularly scheduled recap, so here it is a few hours late. To be honest, it was a bit of a quiet one again – but that's all set to change with Gamescom 2015.

N++ - 9/10

The culmination of a decade's worth of iteration, Metanet's latest is a success in every sense. It's super stylish, feels excellent to play, and has that tough-but-fair balance just right. There may only be a few modes, but within them lie a vast number of levels, and when you're done, you can browse for even more created by players. This certainly won't be a game for everyone, as some people may find it too difficult and possibly a little obtuse. However, for those who like a hard-as-nails platformer and want a fresh compelling experience, you can't do much better than N++.

The Swindle - 7/10

The Swindle is a solid game, but it's a swag bag short of our full recommendation. As a title to play over a weekend – or between other games with more substance – it can't really be knocked, but don't expect to be feeling light fingered forever. This is a cunning con, a solid swizz – but it's been robbed of crime of the century status.

Feature: 10 PS4 Games We Want to Learn More About at Gamescom 2015

Sony's not going to Gamescom 2015 next week – at least, that's what the drama queens would have you believe. The reality is that while the platform holder's postponed its annual press conference until Paris Games Week in October, the PlayStation 4 will still be stomping the cobbles of Cologne, with many a major title on display. In classic Push Square fashion, we've picked the ten attendees that we most want to learn more about, but you're welcome to share your suggestions in the comments section, too. Go on, we won't bite – well, unless you taste like a fine German frankfurter, of course.

Soapbox: Why Rocket League Is Perfect for Me

I've never been athletic. I was born with hilariously bad eyesight, my coordination is far below average, and, to be frank, I just don't like sports. As a kid, whenever my Dad would drag me out to the back yard to play catch with him, I would protest, because I knew that I wouldn't catch the ball, no matter how hard I tried. For most of my life, the fact that I wasn't good at sports didn't even bother me – I had plenty of other interests to keep myself occupied, and a great group of friends, too.

Sony Wants You to Pick Your Next PS4 PlayStation Plus Freebie

Disappointed with this month's PlayStation Plus selection? It sounds like Sony will be giving you the choice to select your freebies moving forwards. A trailer on the 'What's New' section of the PlayStation 4 confirms that a new feature is on the way, allowing you to vote for which title you want to be given away for free. Judging by the clip, you'll have three titles to pick from each month, and the one that gets the most votes will be added to the Instant Game Collection.

Dragon Quest XI Is Officially Confirmed for PS4

We all knew it was coming, and now it's been confirmed: Dragon Quest XI is in development for PlayStation 4. During the franchise's live Japanese presentation, we got a look at some gameplay, although it's safe to say that we saw an early build of the game.

Mafia III Will Make Your PS4 An Offer You Can't Refuse Next Week

After an eternity being locked up in the back of some hoodlum's trunk, Mafia III will finally don its fedora in public next week. The official Facebook page for the franchise has updated its cover image with a single piece of artwork confirming a 5th August reveal. The shot shows four gangsters surrounding a tied up ne'er-do-well, as well as a bunch of 70s-style cars. Looks like this will be a slightly more modern take on the franchise, then, which has us unbearably hyped.

Square Enix Knew Rise of the Tomb Raider's Timed Exclusivity Would P*** Off PS4 Players

Square Enix may actually understand its audience after all, as the publisher's European and North American boss Phil Rogers has admitted that the company knew it would "disappoint fans" by essentially delaying the PlayStation 4 version of Rise of the Tomb Raider. The company still seems adamant that this was a good business move, though – despite the franchise's biggest audience being in Europe, where Sony's system is currently cleaning up the competition.

Wii U Exclusive Zombi Officially Reanimated on PS4

The rumours were right: forgotten Wii U exclusive ZombiU will rise from its grave on the PlayStation 4 next month. The game will launch on 18th August in Europe and North America as Zombi, where it promises to frighten an entire new generation of players via the PlayStation Store. Ubisoft's promising that the "nail-biting survival experience has been optimised" for Sony's new-gen system, although there's no word on how it intends to work around the missing second screen.

The Terminator Raises Hell in WWE 2K16 on PS4, PS3

We'll let you into a little secret: wrestling sucks. The only way for 2K Sports to flog copies of its latest grappling simulation after last year's abomination is to toss in novelty characters like The Terminator, then – which is exactly what it's doing with WWE 2K16 on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. That's right, if you step into the ring with a pre-order, you'll unlock access to two iterations of T-800 – one based upon the original 1984 movie, and another inspired by Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
