Well that didn't take long. Our buddies over at Eurogamer have already popped the all-important question to Square Enix following the official reveal of Dragon Quest XI. When asked if the role-playing game will head West, the Japanese publisher stated it understandably doesn't have "a concrete plan at the moment", but it'll "consider it as [it has] done in the past for other Dragon Quest titles".

Certainly nothing definitive, then, but for what it's worth, we reckon that the release will eventually find its way overseas. The last instalment in the series to launch on a PlayStation console was Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King, and it was a solid success on the PS2. Dragon Quest X didn't make it West, however, but it's worth pointing out that it's a massively multiplayer online title, and as such, it's unsurprisingly more difficult to localise.

With the selling power of the PS4 here in the West, and the fact that Dragon Quest Heroes is releasing as an exclusive later this year, we'd tempt fate and say that there's a decent chance of XI making the journey - even if we do have to wait about half a year for it to arrive after it launches in Japan.

How desperate are you for a more traditional Japanese RPG on your new-gen console? Beckon forth the slimes in the comments section below.
