You've got to hand it to CD Projekt Red. The Polish developer's just detailed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's newest patch, and it's sounding superb. Addressing some of the title's biggest remaining complaints, update 1.07 introduces a new movement mode for Geralt, player item storage, and even removes the weight of alchemy and crafting components, so you won't have to do anywhere near as much rummaging to sort your inventory out.
The new 'movement response mode' for our grizzly hero sounds especially interesting, as many have expressed displeasure with how the wise Witcher controls. What's more, the patch also promises more inventory sorting options, tweaks to Roach's behaviour, and performance optimisation. Great stuff.
However, that's not all. The studio has stated that it's still working on more content for the upcoming patch, so the notes that we've included below aren't even final. That said, because of the work that the developer's putting into update 1.07, there won't be any free downloadable content release this week.
Are you still playing The Witcher 3? Take a look at the initial patch notes and tell us of your adventures in the comments section below.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Patch 1.07 Notes
- A new, alternative (optional) movement response mode for Geralt.
- A player stash for storing items, available in various locations throughout the game. Stash locations are marked on the player's map.
- Crafting and alchemy components no longer add to the overall inventory weight.
- Books are now placed in a dedicated tab in the Inventory and books that have already been read are properly grayed out.
- Multiple sorting options are now available in the Inventory.
- Alchemy formulas and crafting diagrams can be "pinned", meaning all components and ingredients required to make them will be conveniently marked in the Shop panel.
- Dozens of fixes for quest related issues, both major and minor.
- A few performance enhancements, including the optimization of FX, scenes and general gameplay.
- Various improvements to horse behavior.

Fantastic support, and some of these tweaks will actually go a long way in making the game even better.
Now.. this is what I have been waiting for =] Great stuff
CDPR showing how after support should be done again. Great effort
Great. Item storage. Also the books being already read being grayed out is a fantastic subtle tweak.
Sounds good - especially the Inventory and Storage option. I never understood why Trophies weighed so much and I didn't want to sell either. With the different Armour and Weapon treasure hunts, I wanted to create all but didn't bother with the bear (heavy) and couldn't craft the Wolf due to weight limits.
In truth though I haven't played for a few weeks now - not since I beat the story and completed all the side quests apart from Gwent, racing and Fist Fighting. Also didn't bother with a lot of the ?'s - particularly those at sea on Skellige (mostly smugglers caches) due to weight restrictions.
Sweet!
Witcher3 I have been informed is sitting on my door mat. Unfortunately the ps4 does not arrive till next Wednesday. Skint but happy and I knew if if I did not start playing now I would miss out cos of FO4
I like playing these type of games...slow... so looking fwd to meandering about.
Thanks Mr Ramsey for the review and all y'all's helpful comments after.
And finally, hello and howzitgaun! (1st post
Good stuff.
Personally Ive never even hit the weight limit.
In fact Ive not even been over 2/3.
I dont see the point in crafting armour or weapons for the sake of doing so.
If I dont need it, I dont build it or keep it.
Seeing the game get such fantastic support is making me want to play it again. CDPR are really putting other publishers/developers to shame with the support this game is receiving. I can't wait to support them again in the future with another day one purchase from me.
Really happy with these changes, why can't all developers be like this? Just finished Batman so I'll be moving back to this as soon as the patch hits and I can "stash" half of my inventory
Time to get back to the game again after I finish Arkham Knight
I didn't play again after I failed a quest in Novigrad and couldn't find a recent save... :/ but I think that there aren't any trophies related to missable quests so I think I will let it pass...
What happened to 1.06? Or maybe my eyesight is just failing, I'll have to check when I get home.
Thinking of starting again, missed a few notice boards near start which means I get near to no XP for completing them and maybe the new control method will help me in battles, cos I'm rubbish!
I think it's great that these updates are coming thick & fast but quite a few of the fixes ought to have been there from the start. Wish the suggested route was more visible on the mini map though, can be difficult to make out. Best PS4 game though for me and best game in some time on all formats.
@stevejcrow 1.07 will be the PC version, 1.06 on console. I've taken a bit of a break from this game, going to have to get back in.
That book inventory slot update. I've never been so happy to hear something is getting an inventory tab. Sweet lord.
@kyleforrester87 Cheers, thought that might be the case but you've cleared the confusion!
I am impressed by project Red engagement with this game... Their continuos support is truly remarkable.... Glad that i got this at day one, cthey deserve it! Since i am still into schilar of furst sin, i will wait all tge updates and then i ll dedicate this game the time it deserves!
Glad I haven't opened my copy yet ^^ I was waiting on these improvements.
This is one heck of an update... I would freaking love if they could add new game plus but that is probably asking to much out of a patch.
!!! wow new movement !!! i cant even believe it !!! CDPR you are amazing!!! NEVER would have thought that would ever change. so awesome!!!
i only want stable 30 fps.... ((((((
i guess it's not gonna happen... EVER!
I'll be finishing it off this week, hopefully it'll be sorted soon so I can enjoy. Either way I may end up renting the game in future to enjoy the DLC if its worthwhile, we'll see.
Sounds like I made a good call waiting a little while to get this! I'm thinking I will blitz through Arkham Knight as fast as I can, trying to finish it 100% (maybe optimistic) ,and then probably end up grabbing this around pay day at the end of the month, giving myself a month or so to make some headway with it before MGSV!
@Olderbudweiser welcome! You will love this game... What an update.... Everything here will increase the games quality and enjoyment
Great to hear this. I took a break to play batman, and is nice to know when I get back to this out will be even better
I like this game a lot - it's the source of my avatar - but it's a bit strange seeing everyone regarding this as "support" when in fact the game shipped in a terrible state, running at bad framerates, with bugs and broken quests throughout; controls, UI and features such as sorting worse than even an average, forgettable game. This is simply getting it to a basic standard.
You can arrange items in your inventory in NES and SNES RPGs, it's not some new fancy thing. It shouldn't take until almost two months after launch to get the main character to control satisfactorily for most people, this is an absolute basic. Required crafting materials being marked is in stuff like the unlockable school mode in Danganronpa on the Vita, a low budget VN's unlockable post-game mode. Most RPGs with limited inventory space have a stash in v1.0, not finally in v1.07. And this is the third game in this series! It's not even their first time at this.
