Sony has confirmed reports that, on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, users are having trouble accessing the PlayStation Network. Namely, the Japanese giant's official PSN Status website lists issues with gaming and social features, PlayStation Video, and the PlayStation Store. A direct quote from the company:

  • You may be experiencing issues related to launching games, applications, and/or social features such as trophies, messaging, or friends list. We appreciate your patience while we address this.
  • You may be experiencing issues related accessing Video Unlimited content. We appreciate your patience while we address this.
  • You may be experiencing issues related to features on PlayStation Store. We appreciate your patience while we address this.

Quite frankly, this has reached a point where the humour is lost to us. Sony has been notorious for its poor job at keeping its online services up - so poor that a campaign was launched to improve it, in fact - but there comes a time when you really do sit back and wonder: how is this even possible? Of course, we'll keep you updated as it comes back online. Feel free to grab a seat in the comments below.

Update (10:48 PM BST): The PSN Status page is now saying that all services are back up and running. No more problems on our end, but how about yours? Let us know in the comments.
