Push Rewind

It's been yet another sleepy week on Planet PlayStation, aside from one noteworthy event: Shenmue III has been funded and is now officially in production for the PlayStation 4. There's a long road ahead for Yu Suzuki and crew, but we're looking forward to covering the sequel every step of the way. In other news, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has a new patch which has convinced fellow editor Robert Ramsey that he needs to invest even more hours into it. This author calculated that he's already spent 25 full days of his life playing it since it released on 19th May. He's got a time machine that one.

God of War III Remastered - 7/10

God of War III Remastered delivers a masterful conclusion to Kratos' chaotic story arc – but this much was true when the original release brute forced its way onto the PS3 over five years ago. The bumped up resolution and significantly steadier framerate does improve the experience overall, but not to the point where it's worth paying almost full-price again. As such, while this remains an exceptional example of Sony Santa Monica's slick character action series, you should only really consider ripping open your wallet for this re-release if you've never experienced it before.

Godzilla - 5/10

Ultimately, Godzilla can be a reasonably fun romp if you're up for some mindless chaos, but it's too clumsily executed to recommend to anyone who isn't a diehard fan of the King of Monsters. You could argue that the release actually sticks too close to the source material, in that the look and feel of it is spot on while the action really does make it seem like you're sometimes controlling a very tired, sweaty man in a big dumb costume. This is a Godzilla game that's struggled to evolve beyond the basics of what's expected of it – it's the iconic roar without any of the menace to back it up.

Feature: What Does The Witcher 3 PS4 Patch 1.07 Do, And Is It an Improvement?

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's newest patch is being rolled out on PlayStation 4, and luckily, we've managed to get it downloaded and installed. The update weighs in at a very hefty 7.5GB, and it promises an absolute ton of alterations and fixes. From a new movement mode for Geralt, to supposedly improved technical performance, this one's apparently got it all. As such, we've put together a look at patch 1.07, and detailed the changes - heck, we've even included videos just so you know what we're actually rambling about.

Soapbox: Why I Love Shenmue

I don't remember the day that the snow turned to rain, but I do remember when I first learned about Shenmue. I must have been no more than 11-years-old at the time, and I'd been bought a copy of EDGE magazine. It had one of those customary end-of-year features spotlighting all of the exciting upcoming games, and in it was a small section on Yu Suzuki's magnum opus. There couldn't have been more than a paragraph of text on the title, but there was a screenshot of protagonist Ryo Hazuki looking up at an overhead plane. Call it instinct, but I knew right there and then that I had to play this game, and so I started the arduous task of trying to convince my parents that I had to trade every Nintendo 64 game that I owned for the recently released Dreamcast. I was lucky enough to acquire SEGA's shiny new system alongside a copy of Sonic Adventure just prior to the end of the year.

PlayStation Pays Its Respects to Nintendo's Satoru Iwata

There are days for debate and discussion – and then there are days for respect and reflection. Nintendo confirmed the premature passing of CEO Satoru Iwata overnight, and while he spent his entire career at the House of Mario, his incredible influence can be felt across the entire industry at large. As a consequence, many of PlayStation's biggest names have paid their respects to the luminary, who has left this world aged just 55-years-old.

The Witcher 3's New PS4 Patch Is 7.5GB, and It's Out Now

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's new patch is out now on PlayStation 4, and it brings a slew of great changes to the already spectacular role-playing game. The update weighs in at a massive 7.5GB, so you may have to take a small break from hunting beasties to get it installed.

Here's Your First Look at Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection on PS4

How does Uncharted 2: Among Thieves look on the PlayStation 4? Honestly, a lot like you remember it. Meristation has got its grubby mitts on four or so minutes of that E3 2009 moment running on Sony's new-gen system in 1080p at 60 frames-per-second, and it's sure looking slick. It's still very much the same game, though. Obvs.

DONTNOD Applying Final Touches to Life Is Strange: Episode 4

It's been quite some time since the previous episode of Life Is Strange released – and what a cruel cliff-hanger developer DONTNOD left us on – so it's probably time we got an update on the Parisian outfit's progress with Episode 4. Fortunately, it's confirmed that while the new instalment won't be arriving this week as expected, it's currently applying the finishing touches to the penultimate outing as we type.

Street Fighter V May Be the Most Consumer Friendly Fighter Ever

Street Fighter V looks awesome, this much we already know. However, given the history of the franchise, we suspect that many of you are pondering whether to skip the PlayStation 4 and PC exclusive's inaugural instalment in lieu of a later entry. Well, you won't need to, as the title will be iterated on for the entirety of its lifespan for free. Allow us to explain...

Don't Want to Buy God of War III PS4? Play It in LittleBigPlanet 3

It's been a little while since we posted about a LittleBigPlanet 3 level, but this God of War III adaptation really is something else. Released to coincide with the PlayStation 4 version of Sony Santa Monica's deity destroying epic, this burlap adaptation features a series of arena battles against Hades, Hercules, and, of course, Zeus.
