Rocket League PS4 Playstation 4

After a brief hiatus for E3 2015 and various holidays, we're bringing Out This Week back with a vengeance. With the sun currently scorching the UK – seriously, it's been baking here the past few days – you may be dreading the impending summer drought, but things are actually looking quite fruitful here on Planet PlayStation. Sure, there's nothing quite in the league of a Batman: Arkham Knight on the immediate horizon – but Rocket League should keep you more than occupied over the coming months anyway.

Pick of the Week: Rocket League

This author was always a big fan of the ludicrously named Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars on the PlayStation 3, but Rocket League looks like it's going to bring the football-meets-vehicles series to a mainstream audience. An adaptation of soccer that can be enjoyed by everyone – even you contrary Americans – the title sees you controlling remote controlled cars through beautiful stadiums, attempting to bunt a gigantic beach ball into your opponent's goal.

While it's a simple premise, Psyonix has really nailed the gameplay loop; lightning fast matchmaking times, tight controls, and plenty of depth make this one of the most addictive multiplayer games on the PlayStation 4. And don't worry if you're a single player person at heart, because a new league-based campaign promises to bolster the roster of offline options. Oh, and Sweet Tooth's in as an added exclusive for PlayStation fans. Olé, olé, olé, olé!
