Well would you look at that - the PlayStation 4's back on top in Japan. Granted, the actual numbers aren't that great, but it just goes to show that with the right software, Sony's latest console still has a chance of seeing growth in The Land of the Rising Sun. The new-gen machine racked up 24,266 sales last week, which is almost a 10,000 unit increase from the week prior.
Helping the PS4 back to the summit was Batman: Arkham Knight, which debuted in second place in the software charts, shifting a reasonable 48,000 copies. Godzilla also rampaged onto the system last week, and smashed its way into tenth, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is still marauding around the rankings, eventually settling in 17th.

@BLPs the same happened in japan with the witcher 3 and destiny, both western games, and I think there were a few more occasions but I can't remember them right now (gta V maybe)
@BLPs I don't completely think gaming tastes are changing, I think it's more that people don't want to try a lot of games these day because they literally judge them by the cover, I don't know how many friends of me didn't want to play a specific game because it was a "cheap indie", a "childish game" or a "typical tentacle porn japanese game", and the funny thing is that I kind of forced some of them to play a specific game (not that I harmed them) and they all came to realise this they actually liked the game they didn't want to play.
To shorten this story, what I see is that the majority of people is to stubborn to play a specific game they actually would like.
I'm still playing Arkham Knight and I'm really enjoying this game so far. Having the Batmobile in this game is a blessing and a curse at the same time, though. Love diving into it from high above and driving in it chasing after targets but those drone battles….
@BLPs your kind of right. There is no reason Japan favours generic JRPGs and Puzzle dragon games, its just the marketing over there and famitsu have previously been so anti western games and pro jp games its actually nauseating. However with the jp market actually contracting and the lack of truly great games these gamers have looked elsewhere... And found good western games to be fun.
Even with the numbers on PS4 and Wii U going up from last week it's still mediocre. I expect it'll be right back to the usual 10K to 15K next week.
