Jonathon Blow reckons that his gorgeous new PlayStation 4 puzzler The Witness is going to take you a healthy chunk of time to fully complete. Indeed, speaking on Twitter, Blow said that a play-tester took approximately eight days to beat the game. He then did some complicated maths and determined that this means that the title will probably take you around 70 hours to 100 per cent.
What's more, the provocateur is claiming that these 70 hours will be filled with original content. "This is in a game with no repetition or filler," he said. "Everything that you solve is different and has its own reason for being there." Well, thank goodness.
Rest assured that we've ordered our crack team of mathematical monkeys to double check the auteur's figures, and will bring you the findings as soon as possible. In the meantime, give us your thoughts on The Witness in the comments section below.

It's been in development for a long time, but that seems long winded for a puzzler. Interesting.
Dammit I don't have 70+ hours to sink into a game these days!
@Dodoo Tell me about it! I think he said that you can beat it much quicker than that, though. It'll only take you 70 if you want to see everything.
I wouldn't think complicated math would be needed. If the tester works 9-5 with a 20 minute tea break and an hour dinner over 8 days he would have played The Witness for 53 hrs and 20 minutes. Just saying lol
Been looking forward to The Witness ever since I first saw it. I love puzzle games and this one looks beautiful. I loved his last game too.
@k_andersen That's cool to know.
Otherwise if I hear a game is gonna take so long to complete it puts me off these days whereas it used to be a selling point!
@Dodoo in the past (15 years ago) even long games could usually be done in 40hours or less and there wasn't many of that length either. More and more games are released every year and I spend mire time picking games I will never play than games I will.
@themcnoisy tell me about it. I'm already doubting whether or not I will ever actually end up going back and finishing DA:I, even though I was really enjoying it. And then there's The Witcher...
It's a shame that the Vita first party support has stopped now, as I have a lot more time to play handhelds now than I do my PS4.
@SteveButler2210 yeah its weird, the older you get the more time is stolen from you by angry midgets and fiery dragons. That's my kids and wife.
Ain't no way anybody should compare a "play tester" completing a game to an "average gamers" game completion time!
Last time I checked, I wasn't looking for "collision detection" problems, or glitches while I played a game ( but evidently have to live with'em in the finished game all to often) but that's what they get paid to do.
The comparison is crazy......70hrs.....most likely not even close, even to 100%.
