We're going to be honest here: we really can't pad this article out with any kind of flair. Once again, the Japanese charts make for some reasonably depressing reading, as the PlayStation 4's sales continue to drop. Last week, Sony's latest sold just 11,763 units, and only three PS4 titles made it into the top 20.
Newcomer Wolfenstein: The Old Blood managed to squeeze into 17th place with a measly 2,727 copies sold on its debut, while The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt slipped just two places down to fifth. Other than that, there really isn't much to see here, barring crazy underwear-sighting sim Natsuiro High School: Seishun Hakusho entering the charts in third.

Wow, Wii U is doing great, congrats!
Looks like all home consoles aren't selling to well over there. As long as its selling everywhere else. Maybe it just needs a few must have titles that appeal to the Japanese gamers.
Maybe the Japanese gamers see the PS4 as a western games console these days. After all, it did release first in the west.
Yay Wii U and Splatoon!
@AyeHaley i think i might buy splatoon it looks really fun
Whilst the overall numbers are terrible, at least it's the same across the market over there. Although the sales aren't great, at least the PS4 & Vita are holding their own fairly well against the competition. Could be worse, the PS4 could have sold 219 units...
Lol Xbox One. Barely 200 units. I think Microsoft would make just as much money if they just threw the systems they shipped to Japan into the Seattle sound
If a game photographing upskirts on the ps4 beats the witcher 3, I'm going to put my neck on the block and say I don't want to much association with their market. lol
I wonder if these charts include digital sales? There are people, myself included, who don't buy physical games anymore.
@BladeRider You should! It feels so fresh and fun and it looks fantastic. It reminds me of Nintendo's SNES and Gamecube era. Its sorta like the Mario Kart of shooters, but including an awesome single player campaign.
Also, at first I thought I would miss voice chat but this is actually the first game I like not having it, its just pure fun. Worth every penny so far!
@gingerfrog The game looks hilarious. And most Japanese people don't have time to play games like The Witcher anyways because they are always on the go or at work/school.
Splatoon is great well worth the sales it's getting.
@BLPs
Agreed. Depressing is a stretch when PS4 has double the install base of Wii U, I think even more.
So happy for Splatoon being number 1 two weeks in a row. Awesome game.
I like that vita is actually doing good somewhere haha cries
Im not super sure this matters. PS4 is a beast worldwide. And Splatoon is doing awesome in Japan moving consoles(I personally love it), that probably has something to do with the dip in ps4s.
My buddy is the Store Manager of a Game Stop over here in the U.S and he is still selling plenty of PS4's, but the Splatoon game for the Wii U is selling like crazy, but the weird part is that the Wii U console itself isn't.
But people who already own a Wii U are going nutz for it, my buddy said he wished that it wasn't exclusively a Wii U game, because he would buy it in a heartbeat. He says it's a fun addictive game.
The total sales of all consoles is 64k, that's good isn't it? I know we are in the world of Apple and a million sales a day ridiculousness but if you take that company away is 64k game consoles a week good? I would say it is.
Assassination class room...
@Heiki They dont, but in Japan you assume its more or less about 10% of total sales
@SteveButler2210 "in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king"
You could say so, but doing good compared to the competition doesnt give you more money.
