Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain releases on the 1st September, and this brilliant 40 minute gameplay demo could very well persuade you to part with your cash just over two months from now.
The video, which has been uploaded to YouTube by IGN, showcases just about every gameplay mechanic that the open world game has to offer. From in-depth weapon customisation and mission preparation, to combat strategies and the buddy system, it's an absolute must see for anyone with even a hint of interest in Kojima's latest.

Do you have to play Ground Zero to know what's going on in this game?
@JaredJ if you want a chance at knowing what's going on then really you need to know the stories of MGS3, Peace Walker, and GZ!
I think you'll be alright if you just YouTube someone playing MGS3 for the story. Peace Walker I wouldn't worry about really, and definitely play GZ since it's the game's prologue.
£34.85 at simply games, ridiculous. I've been fighting the urge all week.
Skimmed through, will give it a proper watch in due course. Or should I wait and be pleasantly suprised? Hmmmm
This is the game I'm most looking forward to in 2015 - MGS3 is up there with Shadow of the Colossus, FF7, Ocarina of Time as my all-time favourite games - so much so, that a 45 min 'reveal' of gameplay mechanics by way of video would rob me of the delights this sort of game deserves to be sampled through the course of playing.
I'll settle for an exhaustive review, instead!
Cannot wait for the PP MGS is definitely one of the best games of all time, played and own them all.
@Neolit I'm not watching this as well. lol I wanna be surprised when I play the game.
Somehow I missed chatter around mistranslations until now. How horrific. My interest is greatly reduced.
So if I may not have as much time as other players (I don't!) I have to pay more to get through faster. Screw that.
Watched most of it only because I'm not really that interested in the game. I've played through MGS2 and MGS3 and felt that my enthusiasm for the format has waned a bit. However, I'm intrigued by how smooth the gameplay is, looks a lot more streamlined, not to mention how beautiful it looks. Open world mechanic is cool, too. I'll play through what I've got, get the prologue for free this month and then buy the game on a price drop.
Wait... Why did Big Boss forget how to speak Russian?
MGS3:
Sokolove: "Your Russian is superb... Where did you learn to speak it?"
Naked Snake[Big Boss]: "From my mentor."
Every time he interacts with a Russian character they're both supposed to be speaking in Russian. Oversight? Not likely...so what gives?
@charlesnarles The Shrapnel in his head damaged the part of his brain that allowed him to speak different languages. That means he can't speak or understand Russian, Spanish, or any of the other languages The Boss taught him.
Needless to say, I'll be getting my interpreters as soon as I can, because I want to know what my enemy is saying.
@Knuckles I noticed the metal piece, but didn't make the connection, thanks bud
Wow, so he's legitimately out of his mind.. I keep forgetting how cerebral the character development is with Hideo. Obviously his ego and body get hurt in the attack, but the effects of brain trauma are subjective and unpredictable, especially for one under as much stress as Boss. I wonder what/who else he's totally forgotten😭 So sad! I love that the mysterious bad guy from MGS1's booklet is starting down his terrible path, yet we understand his POV and forgive him for not knowing any better, like a child. Only Kojima.
@charlesnarles No problem! Only reason I know that is because Kojima said it in some interview months ago. I believe its when he had to ask a translator to speak to Quiet in a cutscene that Kojima commented on this.
I already know the Story of entire Konami series. Basically an rip-off against Terminator story that ties with Contra and Snatcher. I feel bad about military fanboys as Solid is filled with tons of garbage. Even more garbage then "Other-M".
1. Metal Gear the A.I. with missiles online
2. Metal Gear the walker with nukes etc A.I.
3. T-Rex and Amphibious models created
4. Some point Raiden is full Cyborg
5. Metal Gear moves into Contra
6. Cyberdime/Metal Gear nuclear war
7. Snatcher begins.
8. Snatchers are Cyborgs ( like Raiden )
9. Blah blah rips off an bunch of films.
10. Snatcher Blade Runner whatever
11. Snake is one of the first Anti-Snatcher
A. Was Snake rebuilt as an Cyborg
B. What is the deal with the Snake gene.
C. Will Snatcher/Blade Runner/Terminator/Contra/Metal Gear somehow collide with the HighLander series.
D. Is Snake the Highlander, and will he ever settle down and reproduce already. Maybe there are more then one Snake units.
E. More importantly will we ever see another "Escape from" or "Warrior" or "Fall" movie with an Snake/Pliskin character type again???
