After all of the furore over Ubisoft's statements regarding female characters in Assassin's Creed Unity, it may appear as though the company is trying to smooth things over with Assassin's Creed Victory – otherwise known as Assassin's Creed Syndicate – if the rumours are to be believed.
According to Kotaku, sources have claimed that the upcoming title, which is going to be officially revealed tomorrow, will sport not one, but two protagonists. Adding a couple of extra playable main characters to a title is nothing new, of course, but the twist here is that you'll supposedly be playing as Assassin Jacob and his sister, Evie. The siblings are apparently tied up in London's criminal underground scene, which sounds interesting enough.
The question, though, is how the game will be split between the two personalities. We reckon that it's unlikely that you'll be switching between them at will, and we could definitely see Evie playing a more secondary role, given the franchise's history of male protagonists. Still, it'll be intriguing to see if the partnership is detailed in tomorrow's reveal.

This sounds really cool. I love the clothing in the above artwork, and I really like the idea of the characters being embroiled in a seedy London crime syndicate.
My faith in this series is at an all-time low, though, and I don't care how much Ubisoft tries to paper over the cracks, I won't trust anything until it's actually in my console and I'm playing it...
Yep, like @get2sammyb says, wait for the reviews on this one. After Unity, and even the Watch Dogs kerfuffle (even though I quite liked Watch Dogs), it's worth waiting this one out and seeing how it runs, plays, etc. I'd like to think that Victory will end up being what Unity SHOULD have been, but again, not worth getting hopes up.
it would be interesting if you play as two people and your enemies think there's only one of you
I know Im probably in the minority, but Im actually enjoying AC Unity. I got Unity and Black Flag free with my XB1. Admittedly, I didn't get to play Unity until March as thats when I picked up the XB1, so I guess most of the bugs had been patched by then. I also read that it ran better (less buggy) on the Xbox than it did on PC & PS4 which probably helped.
Already played Assaassin's Creed Black Flag on PS4 and loved it. My favourite AC in the series. I just wish it looked as nice as AC Unity does, not that it looked bad, but its starting to show its age after playing Unity.
Definitely looking forward to seeing more on the next installment. Can't wait to see what they've done with London.
@WARDIE
I bought Unity on sale well after it released and had been patched up. I liked it too. I certainly had issues with it but the lack of a female playable character wasn't one of them. I don't feel developers should be forced to shoe-horn in female characters just to satisfy some people pushing a ridiculous agenda. Now before anybody says it, because I've seen this happen to others before when they go against the grain, I'm not an insecure woman hater. I love women and I love a strong female protagonist in a game, but at the end of the day all I really want from a game is it to be a high quality product. And if it isn't the developers' vision for the game to have a female protagonist, so be it. I'd rather the game be good than have something added to appease people like Anita Sarkeesian, who is only looking to stir up trouble and nothing more. What makes the whole blow up even more funny is Ubisoft has had female playable characters in AC before. People are just idiots.
Back on the topic. I'm interested in how this turns out because we've seen a lot of duos in gaming but not too many interesting brother, sister duos. The Redfields, eventhough they've only been in one game together, are the one brother, sister pair that jump to my mind immediately. The interaction will be interesting. Could be very intriguing if they get along great but are not necessarily working on the same side. Not sure Ubi's writers could pull that off well though.
@Gamer83 It's a shame you have to put all those qualifiers in when discussing a female character, but i guess that is the way of the world currently. As someone that enjoyed Bayonetta 1/2 immensly, I have 0 problem with female lead titles if it works in the game. I just hope this isnt silly shoehorning to please vocal minorities, but stranger things have happened.
I skipped Unity because of all the bad press. I thoroughly enjoyed AC4, but I think more because of the pirate theme w/the sea combat, and less because of the "true" AC-side of the game (AC4 was my first AC game). Is all there is to AC parkour + umm stabbing/stealth? Not trying to insult the franchise, just seems like that would wear thin after a bit (tho i think the worst part of AC4 was the "real world" stuff).
edit: whoops, apparently black flag was AC4!
Hm...I'm listening, Ubisoft.
