Great slogan

You'll have to wait a little longer for Insomniac Games' lovable Lombax and snide sidekick to appear on the PlayStation 4, as Ratchet & Clank's hotly anticipated new-gen reboot has been pushed into Spring 2016. The news follows confirmation of the movie's release date, which is set to premiere in US theatres from 29th April, 2016. The flick's distribution is being handled by Focus Features, which has also worked on major releases like The Box Trolls.

The most bizarre thing about all of this is that, despite it being officially announced over a year ago, we still haven't seen the Burbank-based developer's latest in action. This, according to the studio, will change in due time – with the title likely to get some airtime during the platform holder's E3 press conference next month. It promises that, in the meantime, it's applying a hearty helping of polish to the final product – we suspect that it's going to look good.

"While you might have to wait a bit longer than expected, rest assured that we're using the time wisely to further polish the game to a spit-shine level, with dazzling shader response, awe-inspiring effects, velvety smooth animations, and spectacular new gameplay segments," chief brand officer Ryan Schneider wrote on the PlayStation Blog. "Really, we can't wait to show it to you."

It makes sense to hold the game back, of course, as it sounds like Sony's betting big on the movie. In case you missed the casting news earlier today, the likes of Sly Stallone, Rosario Dawson, and Paul Giamatti will be lending their larynxes to the flick's extended cast. Franchise fans needn't worry, though, as all of the series' usual actors will be returning to voice the animated adaptation's core characters. This all means that the film could actually end up being good.

Just let that last sentence sink in for a second.
