PlayStation 3 PS3 Hardware 1

There are still lots of people clinging to the fact that the PlayStation 3 has a much larger install base than the PlayStation 4, but the reality is that there are many, many more active users on Sony's super machine. Ubisoft thinks so anyway, as it's ditching development on last-gen systems – well, aside from the odd casual title like Just Dance.

The company confirmed as much as part of its financial report, which also alluded to one unannounced AAA title. Last year, the organisation released two editions of its flagship Assassin's Creed franchise: Unity on the PS4 and Rogue on the PS3. However, this year it'll be focusing its efforts solely on Syndicate for new-gen systems.

It makes sense, of course: according to the company's financial report, 32 per cent of its sales over the previous fiscal year came from the PS4, while just 13 per cent stemmed from the PS3. And if you want a few more stats: the Xbox One contributed 20 per cent, while the Wii U managed just one per cent. We'll refrain from commenting.
