Mortal Kombat X PS4 PlayStation 4 UK Sales Charts

After several years lagging on the PlayStation 2, the Mortal Kombat franchise is very much back to its best – both from a quality and commercial perspective. NetherRealm Studios' excellent PlayStation 3 reboot put the franchise back on the map in 2011, but Mortal Kombat X has completed its return to relevancy, securing the biggest UK launch in the series' storied history.

In fact, it also netted the second largest release of the year, with Battlefield Hardline the current record holder. Sony will be especially pleased with the success of the brutal brawler, as 61 per cent of physical copies were sold on the PlayStation 4 – that Street Fighter V deal may already be paying dividends for the platform holder in the fighting game space.

Other good news for the Japanese giant: Bloodborne actually went up a position compared to last week, moving from sixth to fifth. It was forced to sit behind Grand Theft Auto V, Battlefield Hardline, and FIFA 15 – but there's no real shame in that. Far Cry 4, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, and Minecraft rounded out the top ten.

With no other new releases, there's not a lot else worth picking out of this week's sales charts. The Last of Us Remastered rose again, pushing it above The Order: 1886 into 23rd position. Otherwise, it's as you were, with the usual names filling out the Top 40. As always, you can peruse the full list of movers and shakers through here.
