If you're the sort of person that hasn't got the patience to get to the payoff in a two minute YouTube prank video, then you'll probably find the PlayStation 4's forthcoming Suspend/Resume feature something of a Godsend. The idea is that you won't need to quit your game when you slap your system into Rest Mode, meaning that you'll be able to pick up exactly where you left off.
And the video below shows off this time-saving functionality in all of its glory, proving that it'll take you about 15 or so seconds to get from the format's low-power state into a title like Grand Theft Auto V. Sadly, we don't have access to PS4 firmware update v2.50's beta, so we can't verify this right now – but the clip looks legit to our trained eyes.
Do you think that you'll be using this option often, or is this a convenience that you could do without? Pick up where you left off in the comments section below.

Personally from an environmental point of view, I don't think standby/rest modes etc should be allowed.
If you don't have the patience to wait a minute for a game to load then maybe you need to learn the virtue of patience...
@Dodoo I think it'll be used more for pausing whenever. With it you won't need to wait for a checkpoint or finish what you're doing. You can stop, leave the house, do something with the family whenever without leaving the system on or any worries.
Just saw this video today but I think this a better look at suspend/resume working.

This isnt even about impatience...at all.
If you're in the middle of an intense section of a game and you have to go out on errands (which I have to do all the time) then being able to just suspend the game and go in rest mode is awesome. I do it with the XBO and it's helped me beat games I otherwise would never have the time to.
3DS and Vita were built around impatience apparently.
It looks promising but I doubt I'd ever use it out of fear that the feature will mess up and lose progress
@Jaz007 Yeah true mate, good point!
I always use the rest function, and I'll use the suspend/resume feature. These are modern consoles with moderns functions and they should be used.. there are concerns, financial and environmental, but I believe in this instance it's so minor that when balanced against mankinds great desire for progression these features should be exploited. Only by doing so will the functionality continue to improve and, I am optimistic enough to believe, the impact be reduced.
@Jaz007 I agree with you. I have to play M rated games at nights or early in the morning before my kids get up, and without a title that doesn't have a ton of save points, I find myself having to turn it off and re-start the title again. This will be a nice thing to where I can just enter rest mode on the system, and start back up when the kids are asleep...perfect for the upcoming Mortal Kombat X and Silent Hills!!!!
@Dodoo If anything it might help improve environmental impact. At the moment, if something happens, I pause the game and go off to do what I need to do. I switch the TV off, but leave the PS4 on - possibly for an hour or two, because I'm not at a point where I can save the game. Now I'll just be able to put into Rest mode and then resume it when I get back
No instantaneous return to game? No download. Playstation 4 being sold. Sony promised instant, not 15 seconds.
Youtube video is down
This will become a very useful feature for me
@MadchesterManc you're trolling right?
anyone wanna try it now? I haven't tried it but it says it's available here:

As someone with family, this is such a game changer for me... Some times I just dun have enuough gaming period to reach next checkpoint... Finally I can suspend/resume my PS4 just like PSVita....
