DriveClub PS4 PlayStation 4

We say this every single time that we write about DriveClub, but the post-release support really has been unprecedented. Previously, we thought that Guerrilla Games had set the benchmark with its ongoing commitment to the underrated Killzone: Shadow Fall – but the amount of content that Evolution Studios continues to add to its PlayStation 4 exclusive racer is phenomenal. The most incredible thing is that it's promising to maintain this pace all the way through until July.

And this brings us to update v1.12, which is set to release for free from next week. This is arguably the biggest patch since weather was introduced, as it will add replays to the release. These will be available in single player only for now, but the developer does stress that online multiplayer replays will be added in a later patch. You'll be able to use Photo Mode during replays, and judging by the trailer embedded below, will have quite a lot of control over what these show.

Meanwhile, there'll be a new reward for those who have already hit Level 50, as you'll unlock the Ferrari 599XX Evoluzione for your garage. Again, the studio states that it's beavering away on extra ranks, but these will added in a future update. For now, the firm's adding an enormous number of gameplay tweaks, each of which will improve the experience, punishing people for playing bumper cars during races and losing control of their car during drift events.

There'll also be some fresh audio mix features, the ability to force computer drivers to use the same car as you, and various other usability and interface improvements. Most intriguing to us is the addition of "atmospheric visual effects", which will result in mirages "which are visible on the road when light is refracted by hot air". This game never fails to impress. There'll also be support for various new premium and free add-on packs, which will launch later this month.

And, of course, the developer promises that it's still working on other features, such as private lobbies and much more. You can get a glimpse of the new content – including those lovely Lamborghinis – courtesy of the video embedded below. Have you ever encountered post-release support this good? Let us know in the comments section below, because this is pretty unprecedented as far as we can tell.
