Oh shut up, Kenny

We'll be honest: Telltale's project selection has been frustrating us a little of late. It's not that we dislike Minecraft or Borderlands – but given the storytelling nous that it's shown in The Walking Dead, we'd have liked it to have selected more, er, narratively interesting brands. Fortunately, it sounds like it's not opposed to creating its own stories, and that's exactly what it's working on now.

"I'll say that we've spent a lot of time experimenting over the last decade with how powerful a storytelling tool interactive can be, and so we thought about building something from the ground up that gave us absolutely everything that we could dream of as storytelling tools," new honcho Kevin Bruner told GamesIndustry.biz. "The right kind of story, the right kind of setting, the right kind of people involved – everything."

The concept arose "organically", then, and, unsurprisingly, the executive reckons that it's pretty darn bold. "It's probably the most ambitious thing that the company has ever done, but we feel like we're ready for it," he concluded. "We're very excited to talk about it, but we can't say much more right now. But it's the perfect thing for us."

As we wrote in a recent feature, we're hoping for something a little more grounded this time around. With its licensed properties telling much more fantastical tales, we'd love to see something more akin to Life Is Strange, wherein you're (mostly) an ordinary person going about your everyday business. There's no doubt that the studio has some of the best writers in the industry, so our expectations are definitely high for this – we just hope that the company puts that talent to good use.
