Angel di Maria would be proud

Today is Valentine's Day, which means that you're either going to be very happy, very sad – or completely indifferent. Fortunately, whichever camp you fall into, there are always video games, and, regardless of special occasions, we're here to bring you your regularly scheduled dose of WAYP. In truth, this author has nothing better to do.

I'll be spending some special time with Resogun this weekend. I'd forgotten just how much I love Housemarque's shmup, but the recent Challengers update has made me fall for it all over again.

For my double bumper Valentine and Birthday weekend [Happy Birthday, Nicola – Ed], I'll be spending it away on my son's club trip. Thankfully, I've been saving Tales of Hearts R for this special weekend alone with my Vita.

This weekend, it's all about big game hunting, as not only will I be tracking beasties in Evolve, but I'll also firing up my New 3DS XL to play Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. I've not had much chance to play Evolve in any of the alphas or betas in the run up to release, so I'm interested in seeing the final product – even though I'm going to be stuck playing with randoms rather than friends.

I will be spending this lovely Valentine's Day on a date with someone I've been with for a while: my Nintendo 3DS. Who needs a girlfriend when I have The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask 3D to keep me company? As always, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is on my list, too.

It's a lonely life, but video games can make it better. Well, almost. I'll be spending Valentine's Day playing Hyper Void. Much like a crush, it has its ups and downs.
