“Oh dear, are they talking about remastered games again?" we hear you scream. “I want new games, not remasters!" Don't worry – we hear you. In truth, we'd be the first to admit that we're a bit sick of learning about last-gen re-releases – but we'd also be lying if we said that we've truly had our fill of PlayStation 4 ports.
Indeed, there are still a handful of titles that we'd love to see on Sony's new console, regardless of whether we've played them before, and we're sure that many of you are in the same boat. For example, this author in particular will likely jump with joy when the Mass Effect Trilogy is inevitably announced, and although we've concluded Commander Shepard's story at least a dozen times, we still wouldn't object to playing it all over again in crisp 1080p resolution, and hopefully free of those dreadful loading times.
Such is the temptation of remastered games. You know exactly what you're getting if you've played the title in question before, and the technical bonuses are just the icing on the cake. Like it or not, we humans are creatures of habit, and when we find something that we like, we generally milk it dry until something new comes along and snags our attention. Of course, not everyone has the same tolerance level to play a release multiple times over, and it's even safe to say that many people find it difficult to stick with a game through to the end in the first place, but we'll take the option where possible, thank you very much.
People are constantly crying out for more frequent releases on Sony's most recent console, but we reckon that along with indie titles, remasters have managed to pad out the time between blockbusters incredibly well. The only real downside to consider here is that publishers are essentially asking you to spend your hard-earned cash on titles that have already had their spot in the limelight, but at the same time, we can't really blame them for trying it. The PS4 has flown off store shelves since day one, so it only makes sense for companies to try and grab the attention of fresh users with games that may already be critically acclaimed.
Which brings us to the question at hand: are there any more remasters that you'd like to see on the PS4? On the exclusive side of things, an Uncharted Trilogy seems inevitable, while other last-gen collections would surely pay off for the publishers – a Batman Arkham Collection, anyone? The ever-brilliant Shadow of the Colossus also arguably deserves another upgrade, while existing compilations like the God of War Collection could also make the jump.
It's not just about the profits, though. We'd love to see, for example, the Yakuza series bundled up and remastered on the PS4, not just because we're massive fanboys, but because it would have a chance of sparking off the interest that the franchise so desperately deserves. In fact, there are more than a few unsung heroes that should be given a second wind on Sony's popular machine, like the superb Puppeteer, or a selection of surprisingly brilliant titles that flew straight under the radar, like robot-filled shooter Binary Domain, the stupidly hectic Vanquish, the stunningly beautiful Dragon's Crown, or even Ninja Theory's post-apocalyptic Enslaved: Odyssey to the West.
And then there are the games that would simply benefit from running on better hardware. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim immediately springs to mind, since it was riddled with technical problems on the PS3 for a huge amount of users, while Dragon Age: Origins may not look borderline horrific if it came to the PS4. We're not saying that you should double dip on titles that could have been better in the first place, but new players would have a great excuse to jump in and see what all of the fuss was about.
So, what would you like to see make the next-gen jump to PS4? Are you a fan of collections, or are you sternly against the idea of remasters? Cast your vote in our polls, and then open – or indeed close – your wallet in the comments section below.

For the right price, I'd probably buy an Uncharted collectio, but it better not happen before Uncharted 4. They need to get that game done and the 'remasters' need to start taking a bit of a back seat. I didn't have a problem with last gen's HD collections and such because the majority didn't hit until the end of the generation.
How about the two PSP Syphon Filter games in a HD bundle with a teaser for a newly announced PS4 Syphon Filter?
I wouldn't mind a remastered Uncharted trilogy, or remasters of other PS3/last gen titles if they're games I missed or liked enough to play again and the price is right. But then, unlike some gamers, I realize that the existence of remasters doesn't mean fewer new games will be released, it means more games are being released, period.
I'd like to see a platinum games' collection. Both Bayonetta titles (I know, let a man dream) especially after the poor version of the first game on ps3, plus Vanquish and Metal Gear Rising. Price that at 70 quid and I'd be throwing money at them like nobody's business.
apart from that, a skyrim GOTY edition optimised for ps4 shouldn't be too difficult, seeing as the system architecture is so similar to PC.
The PS4 port I want the most is the Kingdom Hearts HD Collection. I've bought them all on PS3 and I'd love to have them on current gen after waiting years for it to make it's way to the PS3. I'd also love a Quantic Dream collection including Indigo Prophecy, Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls
would love Mass Effect, Yakuza and Uncharted collections
others I would like are
Fallout, Elder Scrolls, Shenmue, SoulCalibur.
Like you Mr Ramsey I would love to see a re-mastered Mass Effect Trilogy (I'd even consider selling a kidney in order to purchase, if I couldn't afford it) but other than that, personally, enough with the remastered stuff of old thanks
If they would remaster Skyrim for PS4 I would even pre-order the game I don't expect it to happen but that would be awesome.
Puppeteer is a good choice, South Park should be in the PS4/One and other would be Infamous 3 games from PS3, but they kinda lost the oportunity there...
I don't have a PS4 yet but will play along.
1.Mass Effect Trilogy
2.Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen
3.The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I'm not sure how much I'd play it, but would definitely go for Uncharted Trilogy. I'm always up for more ICO & Shadow of the Colossus, so would get that, too. And I'd be all over an Enslaved remaster.
I am only interested in remasters for Uncharted, GoW, and the Mass Effect trilogy.
For me the dead space trilogy would be a "shut up and take my money moment". The day I sold my ps3 to fund my ps4 was the day this dream was born.
Mass Effect Trilogy, need I say more? Nah, but that's inevitable. If I had to pick an unlikely remaster, I'd probably ask for Dragon Quest VIII.
Ain't mass effect already confirmed?
If I had to pick something that had zero chance whatsoever of happening I would probably pick Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning.
I especially want Uncharted and Beyond Two Souls.
I think recent games shoule be layed off for a while (execpt for Unchrated, and maybe something else), and we should look back further. I think the PS2 days have a lot of games worth a remaster. Star Wars: KOTOR 1&2, Star Wars: Republic Commando, Shenmue 1&2 (never played that one, would like to though), some hidden gems (I'm not naming them because they're hidden ), Need for Speed: Most Wanted (they better not mess with the soundtrack though, NFS had good music back then), Mercinaries: Playground of Destruction (imgaine if they update the destruction elements) (they can leave out the second one though, that was one of the biggest dissapointments I've played), etc. would all be worth a remaster. Espcially if they updated the games with a bit with gameplay and AI too.
Nope, but I'm sure their will be more anyway.
TIMESPLITTERS!!!
I think they should bring some remasters to vita to like uncharted andPuppeteer and a few of the ps3 and ps2 games over to vita
MAG...oh man.. MAG
Pupeteer, Uncharted trilogy (including GA from Vita), ME tril, KZ tril, Resistance tril, Sly T, Crash Bandicoot T.... So many good games that I haven't played (I skipped PS3 entirely).
@ShogunRok good luck with that one, Square seem to have relegated Dragon Quest to Mobile ports instead of on consoles where fans are asking for them
KZ:M on PS4, cross buy also
I would buy the Uncharted trilogy and Skyrim on PS4 if they were well done. I would also buy MGS4 if it was well done and came with some extras.
I was all ready to write "with Tomb Raider and the upcoming DmC I have all the PS3 remasters that I want," but then I saw that shot of Shepard when I opened up the article and realized that if the Mass Effect Trilogy comes to the PS4 that I would buy it in a heartbeat.
Personally I love remasters. The new games will all come out eventually, but in the mean time I don't need too much convincing to play a prettier version of a game that I already love.
And I know this isn't Nintendo Life, but I would do unspeakable things for an HD remaster of Super Mario 64 on Wii U.
@teatimed Apparently Kingdom Of Hearts 1.5 & 2.5 is already being remastered for the PS4, according to the rumour section in the Official PlayStation Mag (also there rumours are pretty spot-on).
Metal Gear Rising, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is already coming to the PS4.
SKYRIM, SKYRIM, SKYRIM, SKYRIM. JUST PUT ME OUT OF MY MISERY AND MAKE IT A REALITY!.😩
i want loads of remasters, but they are all from Playstation and PS2. I have my PS3 to play anything for that gen.
A 'TimeSplitters' collection is what i only want They never done one on the PS3 which made me sad Not bothered about anything else because i have played everything i wanted to each Gen.
Uncharted I guess not really sure what else.
Uncharted is the obvious one but it's not necessarily last gen remasters I would welcome, just look at Grim Fandango. It also comes down to what's been done with said remaster as well. The Last of Us and GTAV were examples of double dipping been desirable because they added features that improved or enhanced those games then just running at a higher resolution.
Remember when things were bc? Sigh... Of course I'd buy the console games I like if they look better. It's like buying a new PC but not maxing your old games on it (DA:O looks exactly like Inquisition on my PC, btw!). I'm way more excited about novel experiences to be had with new games, but re-releases are the direction the tech is taking us. P.s. SKYRIM SKYRIM SKYRIM
Skyrim, skyrim, more skyrim, followed by mass effect. Though I will always hold out for morrowind remastered on any platform. I've got all these on pc, but I don't care, I want them on every console I own.
Yeah give me vanquish, imagine resogun particles in the slow mo bits! It would look and run insane at 60fps
I know it'll never happen, but I want COD World at War Remastered. That game is my favorite fps of all time
No, leave the ps3 games alone ps3 is ps3 not ps4, remastering things is jus a money thing. #PS44life
@Donald_M i agree idk why people think these remasters are taking away from new games. They're there for the developer to make extra money, fill up the release schedule, and ease the wait for the next entry in the series.
wow @hi_drnick clyde radcliffe from creatures, thats a blast from the past!
I'd love to see uncharted on ps4 so i can have my full quadrology all together...i'd kinda like kingdom hearts too even though ive only just bought it again for ps3!
Spyro Twisted Metal Syphon Filter
I said skyrim, but after thinking about it, I would honestly just prefer the elder scrolls 6.
Also, a big announcement from team ico:
We're ready to give a release date on something we feel you all have been waiting for!!! Are you ready?
Still ready?
We're pleased to announce Shadow of the Collossus, PS4 edition!!!
I thought uncharted collection was official...oh gosh
I mainly said Skyrim because I really didn't get my fill of it on PS3.
Everything was going great for the first 100 hours with none of the problems that bothered so me others. After 100 hours it turned it to freeze fest for me.
Witcher
I would love to see a Dead Space Trilogy with all three games running at 60 fps. I'm a little surprised this hasn't happened already, actually. EA always said they were disappointed with the sales of the third one. A Trilogy Collection seems like a good way to make up some of those sales numbers.
Plus, it would finally give me a chance to actually play all the way through Dead Space 3. Every time I try to play it on my PS3, it crashes so badly that the system turns itself off. I'm amazed they never fixed that.
Absolutely nothing this gen. If we're going to have more remasters shoved down our throats at least let them be next gen when there's been a real gap between the game and remaster.
Saying that, if Atlus announce a Catherine remaster I'll cry tears of joy. If we have to have them then that is exactly the sort of game that should be returning, something most people missed. A series like Uncharted doesn't need more exposure.
I was planning on holding out until the Mass Effect remaster is released but I couldn't wait any longer and started it Saturday on PS3. So far so good but I'd love to play it on PS4.
Haven't bought a single remaster yet. Its not that I have no interest, but there is too much other stuff to play. Not time. The only way is forward.
Funny, playing masseffect as I was reading this (during loading times.. XD). But other then losing the loadinv times I dont see how a remaster would improve mass effect. Graphics are fine on ps3
Personally I would rather see some proper remakes as opposed to remasters (to me remaster implies that nothing about the gameplay is changed, only visual elements). There are loads of PS1 games that are surely ripe for a proper remake and i would much rather play than slightly better looking versions of PS3 games!
I would re-buy maybe half of my PS3 games (assuming shared trophy list), if they were remastered on the PS4. I hate booting up my PS3 to finish a backlog game.
Above and beyond all else, Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit)
Everything else for me was pretty much covered in the poll Uncharted trilogy, Elder Scrolls/Skyrim, and Batman Arkham series.
I. Want. Skyrim.
Rogue Galaxy Remastered! PLEASE LEVEL 5!
@thedevilsjester Seriously? Do you have more money than sense? You'd rather buy a game AGAIN then merely turning on your PS3?! Your urine must be gold or something for that attitude.
@rastamadeus turning on the PS3 the last few years has been an exercise in patience. It's frustratingly slow (it didn't start out that way, but 7 years of software updates later, and it's a nightmare). Having used the PS4 for the last year, it's lighting fast, buttery smooth, and just works so much better. It's also an annoyance to have to swap systems out when I want to switch games. Are all these huge problems? No, not at all. Do I make money so that I can enjoy my time, rather than sit through frustration? Damn right I do.
Oddly enough, yes, there are plenty of remasters I would love to see on the system and would by day one.
The problem is they're just bringing the wrong ones!
@Gamer83 Don't you think it would make sense as all those who missed out last gen. Also, it doesn't have to be done by the main team.
I would love a box set that included remasters of Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, The Elder Scrolls Oblivion and Skyrim. I'd happily pay £100 for all those.
The Remasters I want the most are not on PS4. I would really like a Gears of War Collection for Xbox One. Although, a Yakuza Collection for PS4 would be tempting.
I don't get why people complain about remastered games you don't have to buy them but other people who haven't had the chance to play them can now pick them up, coming from Xbox I'd love to play the Uncharted Trilogy, I'd also consider Skyrim because I never got round to playing that and maybe ME Trilogy even though I've cleared all 3 games numerous times.
Beatmania IIDX remaster - all songs on one disc and in HD from PS2 and later arcade versions.
Cmon Konami.......
A Bioshock Collection for PS4 would be awesome as well.
I'm still surprised they didn't remaster Ratchet & Clank Into the Nexus for PS4, or even port it as a launch title. That game looks amazing and a 1080p 60fps version would be in my collection immediately.
@Savino Red Dead Redemption would be awesome!
Uncharted most defiantly and i wouldn't say no to a cheeky wee Resistance trilogy remake
Killzone
God of War
Dead Space
Kingdom Hearts
& Infamous collection would be nice
@JaxonH Wrong ones:
Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition
Rayman Legends: Definitive Editions
Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition
Dark Souls
Ultra Street Fighter 4
Remasters that make sense:
The Last of Us Remastered
GTA 5
Halo Master Cheif Collection
DmC Definitive Edition
Borderlands: The Handsome Collection
I want a Spyro Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot Trilogy for the PS4. Remastered by the original developers or another developer with stamps of approval from Insomniac and Naughty Dog (respectively).
Boy, would I be a happy camper if that ever happened. lol But other than that, I would certainly be up for the Uncharted games being remastered for the PS4. There's the Mass Effect trilogy, inFAMOUS 1 and 2, all three BioShock games, and...oh, and let's not forget Resident Evil 2 and 3! Capcom remastered the first one (twice now). Why not the other main games in the series? Both of them are classics!
Fallout 3 and Skyrim for me
i`d love a metal gear collection ( love it even more if it included the two acid games too)
kingdom hearts collection too
uncharted i think will happen, it makes the most sense.
Like the fact final fantasy 10 hd is coming out to. maybe they will release final fantasy 12 hd now?
Mass Effect & Witcher would be great.
@Savino because it's fine as it is? Games like fallout and skyrim could do with a remake to increase framerate and resolution (which are poor for these games) and decrease the serious loading times. But RDR works technically perfect on ps3 think.
I want a proper FFVII remaster and not the garbage port. IT was fine on PS3 but pretty despicable they thought a second port on PS4 was fine. I'm 100% not ok with it.
I haven't played many ps3 games, so Uncharted and the Batman games would be nice (or even PlayStation Now in the UK in it lets us play those games).
Also some more 3D platformers, like Prince of Persia, Jak & Daxter and Ratchet and Clank. I'm a 31 year old man, I just prefer jumping around collecting things to inflicting horrific violence. Don't know why the latter get classified as mature when they're anything but.
@thedevilsjester You must have a dodgy PS3. I just turned both the 3 and 4 on to see it took a whole seven seconds longer for the older console then started GTA5 on both at the same time and only waited eleven seconds more to be wandering around Los Santos. Obviously it's your money, free to do what you want and not saying you're wrong in any way just personally I wouldn't waste £35-50 on buying a game I already have just to save not even twenty seconds.
@rastamadeus I have multiple PS3s, bought at different times during the generation. Try going to the PS Store, or your trophy list, or doing in game xmb, and tell me it's fast. These are things very, very, regularly done when using the system to finish backlog games and
platinum them. There are many other small things that all just add up to a poor experience, moreso when you have been using a system that doesn't suffer from these for over a year. If I could pay to finish my backlog on the PS4 (without streaming them), I would do so without hesitation.
Just like a new game you buy it ONLY if you want it. I didnt play Saints Row 4 on PS3 so i got it on PS4. I'm glad it came out on PS4 chances are i would have never played it. I really enjoyed it. New games are already listed to the end of 2015 any remasters not have a effect on them.
Madden '94
Super Tecmobowl
Bump n Jump
Super Smash TV
Gal's Panic S3
Musapey's Choco Marker
Ironman Stewart's Off Road Racing
Super Bomberman
Forgotten Worlds
Wetrix+
Einhander
Oops...forgot one
Shenmue: The Complete Collection
Gta San Andreas gta vice city gta 3 gta 4
I wouldn't mind Metal Gear Solid 1,2,3,4 collection.
An Uncharted trilogy would be awesome and I can see it happen with 4 coming up.
An LA Noire remake would be great but it'll never happen.
i cant believe people really want games remastered that just came out last gen. ps3 game look fantastic already lol. plug your ps4 controller into your ps3 and play. i can see older games where they really need a big graphical boost like resident evil. personally i want double dragon 1 and 2 (the ARCADE versions) in HD. just as i remember them but in HD, none of this neon horrible character designs and crap. a redone ninja gaiden 1-3, AND. a completely redone (PLAYABLE/CONTROLABLLE) street fighter 1
Jericho!
@Savino I think those are redundant too
@Gmork___ couldnt agree more!
Yeah im late to this topic and im not reading all 94 comments haha, But id love BF Bad Company 2 or BF3 on the ps4. Two of the best multiplayer games i played last gen hands down.
Having 1080p 60fps with 64 players on these games on a console. Heaven!
@Savino yeah, I gues console gaming is a little easier (no worries about hardware etc) and a little cheaper to buy. Do you have a ps4?
@itshoggie people complain because it means they put time and money in old games instead of making new games. A studio can only make 1 (maybe 2) games at one time, so it means there are less new games coming out..
@ShogunRok I'd love to see the following games/series receive PS4 Remastered versions.
Assassin's Creed series (1-3, Brotherhood, and Revelations)
Batman: Arkham Trilogy (Asylum, City, and Origins)
Darksiders Collection (Remaster)
Dead Space Trilogy (1-3)
Dark Souls 1
Dead Rising Trilogy (1, 2, and Off the Record)
Fallout Collection (3 and New Vegas)
Final Fantasy XIII Trilogy (1, 2, and Lightning Returns)
God of War Collection (III and Ascension)
Grand Theft Auto IV
inFAMOUS Collection (Remaster)
Mass Effect Trilogy (Remaster)
Prince of Persia Collection (2008 reboot and Forgotten Sands)
Prototype Collection (1 and 2)
Ratchet and Clank Collection (All 4 One and Full Frontal Assault)
Ratchet and Clank Future Trilogy (Tools of Destruction, A Crack in Time, and Into the Nexus)
Red Faction Collection (Remaster)
Resident Evil series (5, 6, Operation Raccoon City, and Revelations)
Saints Row Trilogy (1-3)
Spider-Man Quadrilogy (Web of Shadows, Shattered Dimensions, Edge of Time, and The Amazing Spider-Man)
Silent Hill Collection (Homecoming and Downpour)
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Collection (1 and 2)
Transformers Collection (War of Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron)
Uncharted Trilogy (1-3)
@ToddlerNaruto That's one heck of a list! Have to say though, I'd probably buy quite a few of them...
@ShogunRok Thanks , I like to keep track of everything, even games and consoles I don't own yet lol.
