That recent bout of maintenance may have been worthwhile after all, as Sony has announced that you can finally upgrade sub accounts to master accounts on the PlayStation Network. This has been a source of frustration for many for several years, as those that created usernames when they were under the age of 18 were forced to deal with various restrictions – even if they'd successfully transitioned into adulthood.
Previously, the only way to update your account was to create a new one, losing your username, friends, and, importantly, Trophies along the way. Now, however, you'll be able to transfer everything across to a master account, meaning that you'll no longer miss out on any of the PSN's features – and all of your Platinum trinkets will remain intact. Sadly, you can only complete the process on a computer for now, but support for the PS4 is to follow.
You can find out how to upgrade your account through here. This seems like a positive first step for us, and we hope that the ability to change usernames isn't far behind. Have you been stuck on a sub account for several years? Rejoice in the comments section below.

I want to be able to change region.
Currently I'm using singapore PSN because they didnt release Indonesian PSN card.
Now that Indonesian PSN card available, I want to change it...
Easier this way to see the real currency price of games.
@Sevenifity Yeah, this is a big issue, too. One would assume that if they've figured this out, then other 'upgrade' processes like changing usernames and region will follow. Fingers crossed.
Does this in combination with the Rebellion-wallpaper news mean a new firmware update is very close?
I really hope I get to change my psn name soon it is something people have wanted to do for ages and my name is terrible
