Funny reaction, but personally, any single player component that I cannot pause to take 5 mins out is not my cup of tea.
I think it's a terrible idea, however, Silent Hills WILL be a day one buy!

Interesting idea, but as @ToOGoodOfAPlaya said, what's the point in having a pause button if it doesn't make any difference? (although I guess there isn't technically a pause button anymore, but you get my drift)

@ToOGoodOfAPlaya @grenworthshero could always hit the PS button, or go into the share screen. Everything can be paused, even GZ and MH

@charlesnarles Some games keep running when you do that. And what is GZ and MH?

I doubt this will be in the full game, this was supposed to be a experimental dealie from what I understood.

@Jaz007 this. Really annoys me when I can't pause a cut scene, press the PS button only to find out the cut scene just kept playing and I missed a bit of story because of lazy devs. =

I never bothered playing PT, but I really hope the new Silent Hill game is nothing like this. Heard a lot about it because of the internet, and some of the design decisions are just awful.

@Jaz007 that's sad to hear, I thought I'd found a loophole. I meant Monster Hunter series and Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops, Peace Walker, and Ground Zeroes all don't pause when the menu is open (basically, the best games don't let you)

Heh, so many people criticising this game and clearly haven't played it. It's a neat little Easter Egg that most people would never have come across. And also, you guys never played Demon's Souls? Try pausing that. You'll have a red phantom's spear so far up your backside you'll reincarnate having to ask people to forgive you for pointing. That's a game where you don't just lose a minute of gameplay. And it's still pretty much the best game of the last generation.

Demon's Souls is NOT the best game of last-gen. Not even close.

But not being able to pause games would be annoying actually.

@charlesnarles ground zeros has a pausing menu. On ps4 just push the left side of the touch pad.

@Godsire- Yeah, I agree about no pausing. It's not difficult, it's cheap and annoying to life in general as get out. Espcially for a game like DS.

That was awesome to watch. I agree with Sammy tho, PT doesn't really punish you for dying so it's not really a big deal to lose a minute of progress in order to provide yet another awesome scare! I hope the full release is as awesome.

@Jaz007 unfortunately Demon's Souls just wouldn't work without a pause menu. The whole point is that you can be invaded at any time. Well, unless you're undead... Or playing offline. Anyway, sorry went off topic there. P.T is awesome.

I think it's fine in this instance because it really only takes, what, 10 seconds to get back to where you were. But I hope this doesn't become a recurring thing. Even if it were just a jump scare that didn't kill you, the pause button's there for a reason. And that reason is to let people take breaks.
