We have to qualify every DriveClub article with a comment about its crippling issues at launch, but we're also now allowed to stress just how far the racer's come – and that's a long way. In addition to actually working as intended, outstanding support has prompted the release to speed right to the front of the PlayStation 4 pack, and it's got another fuel injection today courtesy of a 3.33GB update.
Before you complain about the file size, though – we're with you, it's a big one – this isn't just about bug fixes, but also free content. As part of the download you'll get access to five new Japan tracks, which developer Evolution Studios has been teasing for some time. There's also a fresh online game mode named Multiplayer Time Trials, as well as support for a couple of premium expansions, which are due out next week.
If that wasn't enough, the Runcorn-based outfit has also included some graphical toggles, allowing you to turn off the crowds or corner flags should you prefer. And, it's made some adjustments to the title's vaunted Photo Mode, enabling you to switch off vehicle damage and more. It's a real mammoth overhaul, and it's available to download right now. Will you be returning to the racer to see what's new? Burn some rubber in the comments section below.

Positive, appreciative first comment in leiu of the inevitable 'plus version' blaaaaaaah.
I wouldn't hold my breath for the PS+ edition, over at PS Blog they said they'd share details in the coming months. I'd share a screenshot but I don't know how
Free dlc is always appreciated!
I picked this up last week when it dropped to £20, can't go wrong at that price. Well impressed with what I've seen so far.
Is there any life left in the pushsquare club? I'd like to join up and do some challenges etc if there's room...
Just got it 10 minutes ago, played a few races and digging it. Reminds me in a way of MSR on Dreamcast which is in my top 5 racers (if I had such a list... Mmm... Outrun, Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge, Ridge Racer, Metropolis Street Racer and... Daytona USA... guess I like arcade racers). Despite the release woes, definitely worth picking up unless you feel the developers must eternally suffer the wrath of your non-purchase.
Look forward to trying the new tracks later this week but not until I've finished a game in my collection , this week it's Wolfenstein . Set myself this new rule after a massive backlog on PS3 which I'll never get around to . Also its 50gb off my already full HDD .
Evolution Studios have done a massive U-turn on this game, one a broken mess is a now a really good serious racer, with generous dlc. Looking forward to trying out the new tracks.

Could've had the next big racer if it didn't f up the launch despite having a whole freaking extra year to work on the game. Too bad.

I agree. When I do buy a PS4 this will be one of the first games I play on it. A shaky launch doesn't really bother me when I never intended to buy it for over a year anyway.
