Silence: The Whispered World PS4 PlayStation 4

All you ever wanted, all you ever needed was probably not another puzzler for your PlayStation 4 – but don't click that close tab button just yet, because Silence: The Whispered World 2 does sound intriguing. Inspired by adventure games of old, the forthcoming otherworldly foray promises to modernise the genre with some nifty visual flourishes – and conundrums that actually make sense.

No more will you be combining every item in your inventory to progress, as developer Daedalic Entertainment promises that it's crafted logical solutions to all of its head scratchers. It's also concocted a seriously stunning art direction, which fuses two-dimensional scrawls with polygonal models – just take a look at the embedded image if you're already furrowing your brow in confusion.

The game will see you take control of 16-year-old Noah and his much younger accomplice Renie, as they attempt to escape from a weird and wonderful fantasy world, which looks inviting, but harbours a dark and sinister underbelly. To be honest, it's getting increasingly difficult for games of this ilk to stand out in a crowded marketplace, but the German developer's definitely talking a good game. The big question is: can it deliver? We'll find out "soon", apparently.
