If you've not been paying attention, this week marked the 20th anniversary of the PlayStation brand. Obviously, we've been celebrating here on Push Square, but it seems that Sony wasn't about to let the milestone go by without a bombshell. Indeed, the Japanese giant today announced a very special new PlayStation 4 console.
Dubbed the '20th Anniversary Limited Edition', the system features the same space-age colour scheme as the original PSone, as well as a specially crafted controller. If you want a closer look, the firm has provided some appropriately fetishistic reveal and unboxing videos, which we've embedded below. Predictably, the gorgeous SKU will be available in extremely limited numbers, with only 12,300 units being manufactured.
There's no word on how you'll be able to actually buy the thing, but the company did stress that more details would be unveiled at its PlayStation Experience event this weekend. We're currently so flustered by this shock announcement that we've run out of intelligible thoughts, so feel free to share your own in the comments section below.

It seems like it's just been 20 years since I began playing playing games like crash bandicoot, or spyro, or resident evil and final fantasy 7....crap, crap, crap, I feel old.. I realize not all of these games came out 20 years ago. But, still. Old....crap. Happy birthday Playstation. I remember playing demos of the PlayStation 1 and N64 at BlockBuster video as a kid. They also had a Sega Saturn there too....MGS 1, Syphon Filter, Grab Turismo, Tomb raider, RE2. Wow. Memories.......

You people must be easily impressed if a simple colour change makes your jaw drop. Yes, it looks nice but reading the comments above you'd think it was made of solid gold and comes with free money.

But with such a limited quantity, I lost all interest. Those things are going to get really expensive.

They should have added 2 more zeroes to that #, I think they could have easily sold 1 million of these yet still refer to it as "limited", even if ti's going to be more expensive b/c of the camera in the box. That camera is my favorite part, it would just look so odd on top of my 52" piano black glossy flat screen. Odd but perfect.
The only thing that could make that any better would be an HD version of FFVII on the HDD.

I don't get the vertical stand, the original PS never stood vertically and I can't imagine too many people have the space or desire to display a PS4 vertically.

The only thing that could make this better is if it's a 1tb hard drive, and I really hope it is! Definitely considering buying one (if I can even get hold of one lol) look amazing, especially the controller
@rastamadeus it's not 'just' a colour change. It has embossed ps/anniversary symbols on both the console and controller which look pretty damn good, and for those that had the original ps1 it would be an awesome piece of memorabilia to own
Looks amazing. Now I'm waiting for a sparkly black ps2 anniversary edition. The black sticks and d-pad look great on the grey, so classic, and I love the embossment.

i swear sony must by spying in my mind!!! Ive been waiting for them to do this, but had no clue they would do it on the aniversary, wich makes perfect sense!!!
This should have been for first pre-orderes!!!! (Day One Edition!!!)
