"Fool me once"

Reporting on rumours surrounding Hideo Kojima's games is risky business. On the one hand, the talented provocateur is infamous for his sneaky teases, but on the other, the leaks are usually completely outlandish. For example, you may recall that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was originally announced as the project of a fictional Swedish studio.

The latest of these bizarre tricks comes in the form of the t-shirt that Kojima was wearing at the recent Game Awards. It read "tjugoandra den sjätte", which a few fans quickly recognised as Swedish. The direct translation is "22nd and the 6th", which some have suggested is a subtle hint that Snake's latest outing will be launching on the 22nd June next year.

Obviously, this ought to be taken with a pinch of salt, but the exact size of that pinch should be directly proportional to how much you trust Hideo Kojima. What's more, the referenced date is a Monday, which is not traditionally a day on which big multiplatform games are released.

What do you make of this rumour? Do you think that there's something here, or is it just more of Kojima's silly shenanigans? Consume a ration in the comments section below.
