The always embarrassing VGAs are gone for now, but that doesn't mean that Geoff Keighley fuelled extravaganzas are a thing of the past. Indeed, the showman is hosting his own event, The Game Awards, which will air on 5th December next week. Spruiking the show on Twitter, Keighley revealed that one of this year's patented 'world exclusives' will be our first look at the online component of the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
We know that the mode itself is being developed by Kojima Productions' LA studio in conjunction with the main game's Japanese studio. Additional information, though is otherwise scarce, however the audacious auteur has said that he is "working closely to create a vast multiplayer for all of the fans". Well, thank goodness.

Well now I have to watch it (if ends up being like last year's event). I think this can single handily lead the show if there are some more decent announcements alongside it.
I just hope this new team doesn't just chuck out what made MGO MGO in favour for some COD and BF action. By all means, ditch Konami ID and those lengthy horrible updates, but don't ruin the formula.
When I got my PS3 and MGS4 a few years back I was too late for the online mode, but I've been curious about it because I don't think Metal Gear can be treated the same as COD. I might check it out since I'm a huge Metal Gear fan and the MGSV games are on my getting list. Hopefully the online mode turns out alright.
If its like the original MGO with better connection, and no awful download screen/have to make Konami ID, I will be very happy.
Catapults better also make a return!
WORLD EXCLUSIVE!
@DerMeister MGS4's was unbelievable. It played completely differently from COD/BF, more similar to TLOU's online with all the sneaking and CQC. There were great modes like stealth camo deathmatches where you'd only see guns floating around, and a good variety of levels from the story plus new ones. Matchmaking was the best/worst part tho, cause it took forever but was always a challenge to survive. I couldn't be more excited
