Ubisoft has attempted to still the unrest caused by yesterday’s French Resolution. Some slightly misjudged comments by senior producer Vincent Pontbriand suggested that the publisher had scaled back the PlayStation 4 version of Assassin’s Creed Unity in order to match the specifications of the Xbox One release, but a spokesperson for the firm has insisted that that’s not actually the case.
“We understand how senior producer Vincent Pontbriand’s quotes have been misinterpreted,” a representative told Game Informer. “To set the record straight, we did not lower the specs for Assassin’s Creed Unity to account for any one system over the other. Assassin’s Creed Unity has been engineered from the ground up for next-generation consoles.”
The firm continued that it has dedicated all of its available “optimisation” bandwidth to all three versions of the game, and at no point has it ever “reduced the ambitions” of any version. For those out of the loop, the release will run at 30 frames-per-second in 900p – despite the publisher stating that it was targeting 60 frames-per-second in 1080p just a few months ago at E3.
Either way, the company’s biggest concern right now may be the state of the game itself, as the most recent wave of previews haven’t been flattering to say the least. Those that got hands-on time with the title noted that it’s currently very buggy, and that the organisation has a lot to fix in the run up to its release next month. This whole saga is starting to sniff like a certain Dog, don't you think?

Built from the ground up for next-gen consoles? Lies. If that's the case, why isn't it running at 1080p and 60fps?
Ubisoft aren't interested in making a game the best it can be, they are only interested in using the easiest route possible, to make the biggest profit. They've had ample opportunity to push this game to the limit, but instead they've taken a back seat and counted the pre-orders.
I don't despise Ubisoft, and I very much enjoy their games but the quality of them has drastically dropped over the last couple of years. AC IV was another cop-out, as the game was clearly downgraded on the PS3 and 360 so that the next-gen version looked better, when in actuality it looked like the last-gen games should have looked, and wasn't much of an improvement over AC III. Watch Dogs was the same.
There should be absolutely no reason that both consoles can't run games in 1080p and at 60fps, none at all. 2015 is the year that I'm sure most will prove that, but all developers are doing right now is damaging the systems by making them look incredibly inferior. PC is evolving all of the time, so it's unfair to make the comparison, but we certainly shouldn't be so far behind.
Ubisoft and their sh*tty hypetrains... Although I could accept 900p and 60fps, but 900p and 30fps? This framerate will hurt the most

At this point I just assume games will not meet stated specs and/or be delayed. The game certainly does have a whiff of dog about it...how long till AC: unity is announced as being delayed too? Seems more likely if the game is as buggy as I've heard.
@Munkyknuts It's been delayed at least once already, which makes this even more of a kick in the teeth. They delay everything, but nothing seems to be improved when it comes out. I swear they only delay them so they get more opportunity to make inane promises they have no intention of keeping, just to build up a little more hype and hopefully increase day one sales. They don't seem to work on the game in the meantime, though.
@Crimson_Ridley Wow...didn't know it had already been delayed. Well...that makes the state of the game even less impressive. I have to say the only Assassins Creed game I truly loved was AC2...Brotherhood, Revelations, and AC3 just didn't really do it for me. Black flag was better, but it felt like it wasn't performing or looking as good as it could be. Watchdogs was the same and Now AC: unity. In a small plus for Ubisoft, I love Valiant Hearts.
As far as im concerned any game that runs at 30fps is a failure to a certain extent. I surely can't be the only person who finds 30fps painful? At what point did this become an acceptable? If a dev is talking about how a game has been built from the ground up for the next gen consoles, says the target is 60fps 1080p, if it doesnt achieve that then clearly something isnt right. Delay the game and get it running properly. I would rather wait for a game that is playable.
So what's the point in this being a next gen exclusive. Idiots. They're either lazy, liars or useless. I guess if we see another AC on ps4 we'll find out.
Sammy - do you spend the whole day thinking up witty subtitles or are you just a natural in the wit department?
On topic - this is good news.
900p or 1080p on the PS4, I'll still play the hell out of this game. With that being said, they really should do more on the PS4, meaning, if they can do 1080p/30fps, they should do it. There isn't a reason for those people at Ubisoft to be "paper pushing pansy's"
Seems legit
@Dodoo We're naturals, I assure you!
900p/30fps - so it's shy of 180 pixels from 1080p. Um isn't 720p (ps3/ps4) shy of 180 pixels from 900p? If last gen gap is 180 pixels. Then clearly 900p is shy 180 pixels of the true gen 1080p. Hope this makes sense.
@bbq_boy its not 180 pixel difference. It's actually a difference of 633,000 pixels
1600 x 900 = 1,440,000 pixels.
1920 x 1080 = 2,073,000 pixels.
Back pedaling as fast as they can. What that Pontibrand dumbass should've done in the first place was kept his mouth shut. I still believe MS paid for the parity though, and really, who does it benefit? Nobody except the Xbots whose feelings would be hurt by the resolution wars. Tough sh*t. Never have I heard a company purposely scaling a game back to 'avoid' debates that have always taken place. So PS4 owners have to suffer because they chose to buy a more powerful console? And on MS' end, Phil Spencer is really not as smart as I gave him credit for. No PS4 owner is going to run out and buy an X1 for AC Unity no matter how each version runs, so who gets screwed here? The PS4 consumer, and I'm really getting sick of it. Sony never got a break from third parties last gen, hell look at how pitifully Bethesda's games ran, and MS shouldn't get a break this gen, no matter how much money it throws around. If it was paying for some kind of exclusivity, timed or full, that's one thing, but the game is going to be on both platforms day and date, if one can run it better than the other, well, the game should be produced to the best of each console's ability. The only conclusion I can come to is the lesser Ubiscums in the industry, the better. Corporate sluts like the people who run that company are f'ing up gaming with stupid a$$ decisions like this.
Really hard to understand why they can't reach more frames here? But I feel they are moving the game on the shelves unfinished with little care to next gen games. Every release so far I've seen from companies is they always work there ass of to reach 1080p at 60fps and how proud there are to reach that next gen step in tech specs. I won't buying it anyway as there's a lot bigger things coming than x pants spec crap like this.
I think everyone has a right to there own a opinion but right now, STFU! This is the fault of the consumer, part in buying games that aren't finished and requires DLC to experience the full game and complaining about resolution/fps. The real gamers look at the game as a whole and see the bigger picture! How does it look what does it play like, is the game worth buying? Nope! The sheep, or, -YOU- bought the crap and corporate says" hey they bought our shiny turd lets give em another!" People pay attention to what you buy, stop getting sucked in by ads with promised features that don't make it till dlc or don't work like there supposed to! END of PSA!
I have a very important question.
Black Flag ran 1080p (Via patch) ad ??? FPS.
So should Unity at less be able to run 1080p ad 30 FPS?
