Ubisoft has attempted to still the unrest caused by yesterday’s French Resolution. Some slightly misjudged comments by senior producer Vincent Pontbriand suggested that the publisher had scaled back the PlayStation 4 version of Assassin’s Creed Unity in order to match the specifications of the Xbox One release, but a spokesperson for the firm has insisted that that’s not actually the case.

“We understand how senior producer Vincent Pontbriand’s quotes have been misinterpreted,” a representative told Game Informer. “To set the record straight, we did not lower the specs for Assassin’s Creed Unity to account for any one system over the other. Assassin’s Creed Unity has been engineered from the ground up for next-generation consoles.”

The firm continued that it has dedicated all of its available “optimisation” bandwidth to all three versions of the game, and at no point has it ever “reduced the ambitions” of any version. For those out of the loop, the release will run at 30 frames-per-second in 900p – despite the publisher stating that it was targeting 60 frames-per-second in 1080p just a few months ago at E3.

Either way, the company’s biggest concern right now may be the state of the game itself, as the most recent wave of previews haven’t been flattering to say the least. Those that got hands-on time with the title noted that it’s currently very buggy, and that the organisation has a lot to fix in the run up to its release next month. This whole saga is starting to sniff like a certain Dog, don't you think?
