Good question

Regardless of whether you’ve had a good week or a bad week, it’s time to forget your worries, and get stuck in with some good old fashioned gaming. As has become more regular than a Mario Balotelli blunder, we’re back with another edition of What Are You Playing in order to kickstart your two days away from work. As always, our crackpot team of gaming gurus are here to get things started, so let’s go.

I’m a little caught between review assignments at the moment, so I’m hoping to find time to polish off the final episode of The Walking Dead: Season Two at some point. I’ll also be returning to one of my all time favourites, Resident Evil 4, in order to get in the mood for Hallowe’en.

I'm currently making preparations for PAX Australia next week, so I won't have copious amounts of time to be playing games this weekend. However, I might indulge in some Pix the Cat should I get the chance. Incidentally, if you're attending PAX's Australian conference, come and say hi to me – I'll be the one wearing a Foxhound t-shirt.

In the spirit of Hallowe’en, I'm finally getting around to playing Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. While I'm enjoying the experience immensely, it’s hard to shrug off the itch to play Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair and Tales of Xillia 2, as I’m reaching the grand finale of both.

After successfully conquering Alien: Isolation last week and being subjected to its hugely disappointing conclusion, I'll be aiming to remove Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor from my backlog this weekend. My only hope is that I won't be subjected to another subpar ending, though word on the grapevine suggests that this may be wishful thinking.

In the past couple of months, I’ve purchased eight new games, and this weekend I’ll add Bayonetta 2 and Lords of the Fallen to that. Out of those eight, I have completed a grand total of zero, and that will continue this weekend due to Destiny. Yeah, I should probably disqualify myself from this feature, because my weekends never seem to change anymore.

With the newest patch added to NHL 15, it almost resembles a full game, so I’m likely to return to that. When I’m not skating on ice, I’ll be anxiously awaiting the newest Call of Duty.

Whenever there's a red Ferrari in a racing game, I pretend that I'm playing a new version of OutRun, but my brash driving style doesn't work well for DriveClub's Ferrari 458 Italia. I'm enjoying Tour mode, and practicing on the picturesque Holmastad point-to-point course in Norway. There's also a sense of satisfaction from earning Fame points towards my Club.

After getting through the insane gore and disturbing scares of Outlast (which everyone should play for Hallowe’en), I'm ready to be even more frightened – in a good kind of way – by watching the Alien and Aliens movies this weekend, which will be followed by my boarding of the Sevastopol Station in Alien: Isolation. I won't be able to get too far into it, but I'm excited to creep around the spaceship in all of its retro sci-fi glory while I can.
