For the longest time PlayStation 4 racer DriveClub seemed like it would never release. But now, with the title mere weeks away, Sony has released a list on the PlayStation Blog of all the peripherals that will work with the game. And, if we're totally honest, it's a disappointingly short list. Indeed, only the Thrustmaster T80 and Thrustmaster T300RS wheels will be supported at launch.
As for the reasoning behind this inexplicable exclusivity, competitor Logitech confirmed on Twitter back in August that the PS4 requires a security chip for full functionality, and that its popular G27 wheel doesn't include said chip. Don't panic too much, though, as the Japanese giant was quick to confirm in the comments section that it has plans to add support for other peripherals down the line.
What's more, considering the firm's decidedly consumer focussed approach in recent months, we suspect that the ensuing public outcry will lead to a suitably quick change of policy. Does this decision affect your plans for DriveClub? Is your driving wheel supported? Rev your engines in the comments section below.

Sony needs to get on the ball with that. They should have added support for logitech steering wheels as well as others for the PS4 before this game came out. I understand there is still a lot on Sony's plate, but steering wheel support on the PS4 as well as Driveclub isn't that hard to do.
@Demi_God they delayed it for a year? They had time. It's pathetic from Sony.
Wow and the Thrustmaster T300RS wheel is only 350 to 400 dollars and the T80 (which also has a Driveclub Edition) looks stupid with where the L&R 2,3 buttons are. Also and this is the kicker the T80 wheel does not have force feedback!?!
I know Logitech has declared that it’s getting out of the video game console business for good. That could be one reason for no support for Driveclub or PS4 for that matter.

I think it's about time for Sony to come up with their own wheel and pick up where Logitech left off.
Personally, I'll stick to a controller and never buy a wheel again. I had one for the PS1, but it mostly sat gathering dust and wasn't worth the £80 I paid for it.
My setup has never really been suited to a wheel anyway; unless you have a desk to clamp them to, they're pretty hopeless. They're also vastly overpriced for such a restricted use piece of hardware. A peripheral that costs more than the system? No thanks. I'd have to play nothing but racers to justify spending that kind of money.
No Logitech wheel support? That sucks big time. I hope that patch it. That will seriously reduce my time with the game. I wonder if Project cars does a better job?
@Paranoimia With GT5, I bought the wheel for about $100, then built my own desk for about $50 out of wood. It is pretty sweet, still have it. Then spent around 150-200 hours playing GT5. At time I brought it out at parties, had friends and the whole extended family racing. Uncles, aunts parents etc. One of the best gaming investments I have every made. It is folded away at the moment, but was hoping DC would give me an excuse to get it out again. Oh well.
I don't see the appeal regardless, for me it only belongs in an arcade.
Can PS Move controllers be used like Wii Remotes are on Mario Kart?
@Bad-MuthaAdebis You don't see the appeal of bringing the arcade into your house? Hmm.
@Ginkgo as in a full car set up, not just a plastic wheel vibrating on my lap
@Bad-MuthaAdebis Yep! I built a special table that leaned in and held the wheel. So I sat on my couch with Wide screen TV, surround sound, Pedals fixed in place at my feet, and force feedback wheel fixed hard to the table that leaned in over my lap. The table height and lean angle were adjustable for different people. It worked great.
I'm tempted to send in photos.
I think thats an oopsie. As I still sport my G27, but I guess Driveclub is too arcadey anyways and best driven with the excellent gamepad that is the DS4!
