One glaring omission from Sony’s big PlayStation 4 firmware update v2.00 reveal last night was the lack of a timeframe. The software refresh – which will include features such as Share Play, YouTube, and themes – was always set to arrive at the end of the year, but the platform holder’s yet to release a firm date for the download. Sadly, it’s still keeping its cards close to its chest – but it has hinted at approximately when we can expect it.
“We have not yet announced a date,” wrote Scott McCarthy, director of product planning and software innovation. “That said, we don’t want you guys playing some of the biggest games of the year without the biggest update of the year.” Reading between the lines, we’d expect it to arrive towards the end of this month, then – prior to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. If you’re not sure what’s new in PS4 firmware update v2.00, check out our rundown through here.

@Reverandjames I didn't know I could turn it off. Thank you good sir.
Lol poor Driveclub and Destiny...
Although seriously the biggest games on PS4 have come under fire recently or for a few months but little do we the know biggest games are there. It's not exclusive but it is there.
I had expect it release in the night of Friday but, looks like I will have wait longer
So, within the next two weeks? Nice.
@Reverandjames Thanks from me too
Had no idea!!
Its always a good idea to root around all the setting with any new device, my music went off pretty quick, it gets pretty pointless after you've heard it for a week or so.
I've had my PS4 for nearly a year and I still keep my background music turned on. I find it kind of peaceful
Logging into the UK/EU PlayStation store via my app, the loading screen you see before you get to the store seems to have been updated? Looks much cleaner, might we see an update to the store front soon?
Before Farcry and Assassins Creed I hope.
So that puts it by the 14th of November I think.
@gr8apeb8 Oh you poor soul. You've been listening to that crap? Makes me feel like I'm back in time working at Baja Books in the San Diego International Airport, selling Hallmark cards to irritated tourists.
Not a day before a big AAA game comes out tho just in case something goes wrong(lot's of stuff going wrong at the moment. I won't moan tho...)
@Reverandjames I like it actually, reminds me a bit of Blade Runner's music. Plus it's good for soothing my frustrations when my Destiny engram turned out not to be a legendary...again
Only game I'm waiting for is LittleBigPlanet 3 next month so hopefully before that.
@gr8apeb8 yea you can, and would be an AMAZING feature if you could!
@glassmusic The music is so calm and subtle that until reading the posts on this article, I did not even realize there was music on the home screen of the PS4. As far as I am concerned, that's a job well done.
To be fair, I use the home screen to actually you know...launch games, not to sit and bask in its blue glow, which is likely why I never noticed the music.
@thedevilsjester its so mellow i couldn't pick out the music if you played it for me because i barely notice it. It doesnt stick out much i think if i can't even recall how it goes.
@Reverandjames @thedevilsjester @Subie98 It is so subtle, you barely notice it. But at the same time it's ambient and calming.
I don't think it would be enough of a big deal to me to go to the settings and turn it off, even if I didn't like it, because it's so subtle.
