DriveClub PS Plus Edition Content PS4 Details

DriveClub: PS Plus Edition is undoubtedly the highlight of October’s massive PlayStation Plus update, but you may be pondering what the free PlayStation 4 download actually includes. As the name indicates, this isn’t the full version of Evolution Studios’ next-gen racer, but a cut down copy designed to give you a taste of the title’s handling model and socially connected gameplay. That doesn’t mean that it’s your average demo, though, as this free download will allow you to earn Trophies, compete online, and much more. So, what do you actually get?

An Indian adventure

You’ll get 11 tracks based upon the one location, so you shouldn’t get bored too fast

There are a total of five locations in DriveClub, but you’ll get access to one as part of the PlayStation Plus download. The idyllic Indian backdrop is packed with power lines, housing settlements, and small lakes – but it’s also host to some twisting country lanes, which you’ll need to master in order to finish in first place. You’ll get 11 tracks based upon the one location, so you shouldn’t get bored too fast. Of course, you’ll need to stump up for the additional four locations included in the full game.

Ready to race

What good is a racing game without any cars to drive? Evolution Studios is being quite generous with DriveClub: PS Plus Edition’s vehicle selection, giving you ten automobiles to try. These all stem from different categories, meaning that you’ll be able to get a feel for various different types of machine. What are the cars, though? Well, we’ve listed them below:

À la mode

DriveClub: PS Plus Edition will give you the option to upgrade to the full version at a significantly reduced fee

The really neat thing about DriveClub: PS Plus Edition is that it includes all of the modes from the full version, meaning that you’ll be able to join and race in clubs, play online, and even earn the Platinum Trophy. Without all of the content on offer, the latter will be a little more tedious, as the trinkets include driving for 1,000 miles and reaching Level 50. However, as promised, it’s possible. The free download will also receive future updates such as the hotly anticipated weather patch, but any complimentary cars outlined in the company’s content schedule will not be added to the PlayStation Plus version.

Count the pennies

Last but not least: owning DriveClub: PS Plus Edition will give you the option to upgrade to the full version at a significantly reduced fee. Currently, you can unlock everything for £34.99/$49.99, which represents a significant saving against what’s available in the shops. You can pre-order the update right now if you want to, or wait until you’ve given the game a go. Either way, it’s the cheapest place that you’ll find the racer at the moment – and you won’t lose access to the title should your premium membership lapse.

How will you be digesting DriveClub? Will you be trying out the free version and buying the upgrade, or would you prefer to purchase the title on a disc? Are you planning to avoid the release entirely, or will you simply be indulging in the free version until you get bored? Honk your horn in the comments section below.
