Tell us all of your secrets

Sony doesn’t tend to understand the concept of patch notes. While it will always detail the major changes included as part of a numbered firmware update, it frequently throws in hidden extras. This has been the case since the early days of the PlayStation 3, and just because it’s got a fancy new piece of hardware on the market, it doesn’t appear eager to change this long-running tradition.

So, are there any hidden extras included as part of the widely publicised PlayStation 4 firmware update v2.00? There are a couple of obvious ones: notifications for Trophies and messages now include a PlayStation button prompt, which when pressed takes you directly to the associated system area, while the audio codec for Party chat has been significantly overhauled.

There are some lesser tweaks, too, though. For example, you can now force a game to look for updates by hovering over it in the system tray and tapping the options button, while you can also use Kappa emoticons in Twitch streams. Elsewhere, mouse support has been implemented, while you can dictate how long you want your controller to charge for when your console's in Rest Mode.

Furthermore, there are tons of subtle improvements to game streaming, such as the addition of a green screen mode for the PlayStation Camera, as well as multitasking in the Live from PlayStation app, allowing you to continue watching a stream while browsing for other channels.
